So now you have to check the price of everthing you pick up in case it isn't the bargain you thought it was

Most things in Poundland aren't a bargain anyway. Just cheap tat, reduce sized items or other false economies.

also a bigger pack of twix was £2.
luckily I asked at the till, I originally thought it was a bargain.

be careful now ;)

Bad isn't it? My local poundworld has renamed itself 'poundworld plus' so it can sell items at pretty much any price!
Have to have your wits about you when shopping now and make sure you check SEL.
No more rushed "chuck it in the basket, it's only £1!" :(

It's been like that for at least a year in my local Poundland. Even have things for £3 £4 and £5. I don't think they should b allowed to call their selves Poundland anymore. It should be PoundSland :)

i recently discovered poundland is not as cheap as it seems its the easiest place to get reasonable prices. but majority of stores offer prices of such items come in cheaper than £1

They were selling Disney Blu-Rays in Birmingham before Christmas. Said things were right next to a rather large sign pointing out that they were a pound. They didn't cost a pound. They cost a fiver. I pointed this out to the staff member. She laughed.

This is the same Poundland that has been closed twice due to rodent droppings.

Just saying. (_;):D

Poundland has the illusion of being cheaper but when tested other cheap retailers such as Home Bargains often have cheaper prices or bigger product packs that have a lower price when broken down.

I went into Poundland last month and found things for 4 quid . I later found out that's what the 'extra' on the shop sign means oO

This is not news. They've been doing this for I'd say, a year and a half. They've removed all the slogans on the stores saying 'Everything's a Pound' for that reason. They are slowly, but surely climbing their way up the ranks. Give them 20 years, they'll be up there with the likes of Tesco & Asda X)

Yeah as those 2 twix fingers will have shrunk in size :)

Gone are the days I could say to my son to go & choose something. He came back with a £4 gummy sweet pizza yesterday! It's rather annoying

Meanwhile the 97p store has gone the day of the dodo.

Yes there was a 97p store not far from me

No, it isn't. They're just looking to sell lines that make them higher margins. The £2 items won't be items that were £1 before.

In the future there will be memes such as......
You know your getting old because you remember when every item in Poundland was actually £1.

Yeah but it goes against their ethos of 'everything is a pound' Now they are turning into lying b*stards!

Most things are still £1 in the three poundlands close to me but yes higher price stuff is creeping in a bit too much. Did buy some 5p packs of Crackers which were on final clearance reduced from 25p a pack. I dread to think what quality items are in the centre of them but won't know for 11 months.
