It asks for payment. Do they only take this if your application is successful?

you sure you were on the right 'virgin' site? :p

No, not this time, perhaps 2012, but I am hoping to do a 11 mile moonlight walk in aid of Marie Curie in June on the Camel Trail, Cornwall, I've entered as normal but will be 33 weeks pregnant at the time, so will have to wait to see until the night whether I'll be able to waddle it, luckily my hubby is one of the volunteer marshals as usual, so if ness he can give me a piggyback

Just submitted my application.

What's the usual ratio of applications to entrants?

Did you check the box saying you'd donate the fee even if you didn't get accepted?

It's about a 1 in 40 odd chance, but you can get a charity place if you can guarantee to raise a certain amount, the charities get places donated to them,

Well I won't start the heavy training just yet then!

1 in 40? No, no, much less than that. The ballot is limited to 120,000 entries now, not like the free for alls a few years back. I think it's something like 20,000 places available in the ballot, so closer to 1 in 6.

Be aware that once they have had all 120,000 ballot entries, the book closes for the year. Took around 3 hours last year.

Got my entry in at half 8 ish :-)

Why such a long wait then if applications close today? Wouldn't it be best to let people know as soon as possible to start training?
#20
Oop, sorry, just checked, the 2011 ballot is limited to 125,000 entries
#21
You could always train anyway, and if you don't get in, choose another of the hundreds of races in the UK instead :-)

its changed since I last did it in 2008 then, which is a good idea, because six of us entered and only 2 got a balloted place, luckily 2 of the others went through with charities:thumbsup:

You could always do the Edinburgh one, that was an excellent one:thumbsup:

I could, but I only want to run the London Marathon so I can cross it off my list of things to do in life. There's also travel and accommodation to sort out.

Just seems a pointless wait for what could technically be an instant process.
