Just had an RSS [automated news feed to the non-geeks!] alert pop up about a new Moto G with 4G / LTE + Dual Sims + Better Battery..

Which will make it the best phone you can get sub £150 ish [yes I am guessing the price!] with the spec that the first Moto G should have been sold with!

Mmm....Still the SD 400 processor? I thought it would have the 410.

Old tat, how long do you think this will go on? Yes it was OK a year ago but times change. Give it a rest and move on.

It may well have, only an unofficial spec list, however, I was being greedy and thought that when it is released as a 3rd gen, it would have the the 410 as minimum!

No idea what thread you are in, the Moto G is obviously not old tat, otherwise Ricky boy and Lenovo would not have splashed out 3+ billion on it and the 4 new models coming in 2015..

The Moto G range in less than 2 years has outsold everything at the price point it falls into, as in double figure millions, but then again, if you like apple toot, this would be a tat thread :D

Won't be as good value as the 2nd gen one though if compared to similar phones that are/will be avaliable at the time.

Was the same with the Galaxy Ace 2, great wee cheap phone, Ace 3 went almost unnoticed and they released the Ace 4 and thats selling on Ebay for less than £90, having only been out since Oct.

They all do it, the 1st phone is ok, the 2nd is great then they have a few hooked customers. Just look at the iNumpties that blindly follow apple despite their phones being a year behind Samsung and Don't even get me started on the mac bricks.

The last one really should have been 4G though. Why put it in the model before then take it away again? They lost me as a customer at that point. Don't think you have to b an apple fan boy to think the last one was tat.

Swapped my N5 for a Moto G recently, didn't get the 2nd gen as wasn't fussed on camera. Still a cracking phone for the price.

Can't wait for UK release.

Going to be an age, hence why I got one direct ;-)

Had one and it was, this one is much better, for not a lot more :-)

Can you exchange the battery on this phone?
#16
I looked at the direct buy link posted but it struggles to deal with a foreign post code. How did you get it sent to the UK and what sort of costs/bother was involved please?
#17
I find 1gb of RAM is too little, I would prefer more.

Nope, however, it is bigger and better than the last one, which is neither here or there, as the last one has brilliant life/standby/blahblah, have not had an issue with any moto battery, from the cheap handsets, to the razor, all just do the job and do it well ;-)

We have setup a StreetGB drop point, in most places, which is a cheap way of getting it delivered locally for free|cheap, then just paying the shipping with ups, landed this cost us $32 in forwarding mail costs [tracked but insurance only up to $300] to UK.

Got Lollipop 5 on a few 512mb ram moto's and it flys, so plenty left with 1gb of ram on this one, plus this is a stock android 5, so no crappy bloatware running and using the ram up in the background.

Not a great user of social media app rubbish, prefer a real world conversation, so my ram is not full of alerts and messages, informing me if a picture of a cat has gone viral in Australia:D

spec it should have been released with!?!!!?

sorry but the spec of first released moto g is comparatively much higher than this which is little more than a slight upgrade with a couple extra doodahs

Is this 3rd gen the same CPU or is this one a lot faster.
I have an S3 - happy with it but faulty power button so need an upgrade....would like something that is a step up in capability even though I may not push its capability

So if I have this correct
Moto G - 1st Gen 4.5" 3G
Moto G - 2nd Gen 4G 4.5" screen
Moto G 2nd Gen NOT 4G 5" screen

Moto G 5" 4G 3rd gen - this one

Nonesense. It's a Moto G 2nd Generation with 4G (just look on the Motorola site).

There won't be a 3rd Gen device for a little while.

That said, it's a great budget phone, I got mine for a measly £130. Doesn't feel budget and Lollipop (Android 5) is simply fantastic, a big step up. Everything just works.

Apple really have a fight on their hands, and I'm a big apple fan.
