I'd imagine that if you kept 2 items you'd be charged the price for the 2 items, if you keep 1 the same, the one you send back is kinda irrelevant as it was free, unless the one you send back is the dearer one.

they divide what you paid by 3 and thats how much you get back for each item

if you take it back without a receipt, ypu can exchange the "free item" for something worth its full value
Obviously i wouldn't condemn this tho :whistling:

If it's M&S and you take it back, the price is calculated at 2/3rds - which seems fair.

If it's Boots and you take it back, depending on the SA, they might just scan it and tell you to find goods to the value of its full price - or if you get a stroppy one, they might say you have to take all 3 back which is just silly......

Not strictly true, as there is no legal requirement for a store to actually give you a receipt in the first place.

You can use something like a credit card statement as proof of purchase (particularly for large items).

Ooops
You#re quite right - sorry, been an extremely long day at work (still here and in hour 14 of my working day :? )

A (ahem) friend of mine did it in tesco's (on clothing), and got the full value of the free item without the receipt.
They exchanged it for other items of the same value
