hey! is this almost a sprinting pace? well not spriting pace but you know what i mean lol for the 1.5 mile i get 8.39 ,i am not as fit as i normally am so i no that will come down, it worked out at a average pace of 5.40mins a mile. now i was tired after my 1.5 mile so going at that pace for another 1.5 , ouch lol its 6mins per mile, thats tough. i will attempt it tonight... anyway does anyone have any tips? cheers :-D

drink loads of energy drinks before hand (just make sure theres a toilet on the other end) and fruits like banana's and oranges will give you that extra boost you need. Good luck, rather you than me

my last 3 mile (5k) time was 21 mins, but that was a proper one, no break in between :p and i didnt push myself as hard as i could have, dont think i could do it in 18 mins tho

only advice i can give is make sure any music u listen to is fast paced and pumps u up lol

lol i no thats some pace aint it, am going to smash 3miles in 17 lol yea!!! on the pre joinin g fitness test i have to do 1.5 in 13 mins then rest for 1min 30 and then run back in under 10mins. am thinking the 1st 1.5 could basically be a jog right? i mean 1.5 miles in 13mins is a doddle so no need to tire yourself out for the return? its done on a treadmill aswell so i guess its easier but it has a incline aswell.

the PJFT:

this test is conducted at your local fitness first gym centre

this test consists of 2 x 1.5 mile (2.4km) runs conducted on a treadmill - you must complete the first 1.5mile in 12:30...you then have 1 minute rest before the second 1.5mile starts - you MUST complete this within 10:30

2 degree incline

2 degree, is that hard? lol well baring in mind i do it in 8.39 outside do you think i will be fine?

u joining the marines?

Had to do this to join RMR Tyne. 2% incline on a treadmill (which apparantley replicates roda running). Good luck
#13
Just to add, I can run a mile and half in 8:30 ish outside best I've managed on a treadmill is 8:50ish

What test is this?!

that's a hell of a pace to expect! thats looking up towards amateur/intermediate runner pace.

It'll take you longer than 18 mins to drive 3 miles across Reading any time of the day. Quicker to walk!

I ran a mile in what seemed like 5 mins but then the guy was carrying 5 bottles of whisky 2 of which he dropped.

yea i am going for thew marines , i have my aptitude test on tuesday , am not dumb but you never know lol i will take your advice and take my time on the 1st run and run like forest gump on the second. If i am correct 18 mins for the single 3 mile run when you go to prmc is just to get a max score of 100, i am sure you can pass it if you get around 23mins? Can someone confirm this? however you will do alot better when everyone is running at the same time i am sure, it will push you alot more i guess.

No it's 3/4 pace. I usually run 5km in 17.30.

It is out of a persons comfort zone (well mine anyway) but a lot of it is down to mental strength and regulating your breathing.

yes fully agree mate its about mental strengh and thats what the marines is about, at the end of the day pain hurts but with pain you always gain
