Recently found that I was missing calls and texts and signal on 3 network was poor, when I called customer services they quickly admitted they had recently disconnected the back up 2g network hence the problems I was experiencing. They offered several options including early termination of contract with no penalty charges I know several people locally who have been offered this option thought it might be useful to anyone experiencing similar problems

If most people can get an early termination of the contract then this is going to get HOT !

I took out a new contract with them on the back of their "online" network coverage indicator saying excellent in my postcode area. For 3 days, got no signal, missed calls constantly and no data all as a result of the withdrawal of 2g network back up which was supplied by Orange. They admitted that coverage in my area was poor and offered to cancel the contract within 14 day guarantee. However, be warned. I paid £129 for my handset on top of the monthly tariff and they have yet to refund me this money. I am now having to threaten legal action against them for non-refund. Appalling service and would never recommend.

For all the sniping at 3 I have always found them ok. I suffered a poor signal for 3 months after 6 years of having a fine signal. After a few failed fix promises they let me walk away from 2 contracts, both 6 months into a 2 year term, letting my keep N97s in both cases.

thanks for the info will give them a ring soon, forever only getting emergency calls only (sick of standing outside with my phone in the air!) Did call in to see them a couple of weeks ago about upgrading my phone and they basically threw me out of the shop in disgust as my contract is until 2012 and only then can I upgrade .... hopefully be able to get out now, thanks again! :)

What options did they give you other than early termination of contract?

I signed up for a new 24 month contract about 4 months ago but get quite a good deal but it has been annoying the past few weeks receiving texts at 5:30 am when they were sent a couple of days before!

As above but thought best option was to terminate and port number to the tesco sim only offer
