Would it affect my computers performance if i installed Win xp on a third partition?

I would have used the virtual computer but the sapce that has been alocated is only about 1gb.. i need to use a program that is only compatible with win xp (dvd shrink) but 4gb will not fit on the virtual drive. please help

Surely you can allocate more space.

Are you positive it works? but dont i need to use nero along with it?

This is what i do at the moment on my old pc using xp

Open up nero and close the wizzard
open dvdsrhink and open dvd

Do i have to have nero on it in order to make dvd shrink work?

I could, but the temp files are too large and the space allocated is only 1gb

Wouldn't have thought you'd need Nero, Although I've always had Nero as well.

Just open disc on Dvd Shrink

dvdshrink runs fine on my old vista pc and new win7 one

I install it alongside dvddecrypter. Nero doesnt come into the equation as dvdshrink burns the dvd.

You can install XP but you'll have to do a bit of fiddling afterwards as it's rather un-neighbourly and may overwrite the boot entries for the other two.

I have 3 OSes on my netbook
Generally , it is best to install the oldest OS first as it is unlikely to be able to read modern partition file systems.
And install linux last because it is most compatable/adaptable to multiple partition formats

Xp will fit in 4 gigs ( or you can get tinyXp which will reduce it far smaller) Xp will ovewrite the MBR but you will have to edit the bootloader to add Xp as an option

I would backup data and start again

COCO

Use DVD-Shrink under Vista/Win7 and then you can use free burning software such as http://www.imgburn.com/
