Hi,

I've tried upgrading my Benq drive from 1.6.to 1.61 using jungleflasher. However, whilst flashing my drive the program crashed whilst writing to bank 2 and now my drive doesn't work. If I try to eject it using the xbox it does not come out and the xbox now gives me an e65 error. Is there any way to recover the drive now?

Thanks for any help.

My setup:
Vista 32bit
Jungleflasher 1.67
Port i/o 32 installed
Via 6421 SATA card

lots on google to choose from too http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-GB%3Aofficial&hs=JII&q=recovering+bricked+benq+jungleflasher&btnG=Search&meta=&aq=f&oq=

jungleflasher should have backed your key up for you though so all is not probably lost!

When doing mine 18 months ago I was using Iprep on a brand new elite the power went, luckily I managed to write down the key because I use a UPS on my PC so had 15 minutes grace, but it screwed the original firmware up enough that I had to reflash it before doing it again!

if you have the original fw or any fw that has worked, as you have a via card you can always sort out your benq.

so dont worry, even if its erased you can recover with a via card.

(you have to have any old fw that has worked though, and as you should have saved a copy at some point, you should be ok)

Thanks for all the help guys.

I still have my original firmware and a VIA SATA card and I have tried for several hours to get it working but it isn't.

Where do I proceed from here guys as I am truly stumped.

Cheers.
#17
have you tried iprep
#18
Would this work with a drive which does not eject and may have faulty firmware?
#19
aslong as you have the original bin file, or a custom bin file for the 360 the drive is from, then there is no harm in trying.

remember to power cycle your drive when asked to do so

A member on this site has offered to fix my drive for £15 delivered. What I do is send them my drive and my original fw.

Does anyone have any better offers to make or know someone who could do it for free.

bump.

So, could any one fix my drive for me as from what I've read it is impossible to brick a Benq and I still have the original firmware, I wouldn't mind paying a fee just want it back in time to play MW2.

So I've tried using doflash to flash the drive. It is being recognised however when I try to read the firmware from it it stays stuck reading bank 0. When I try to write my premade 1.6 firmware (with my drive key on it) to it, dosflash first tries to erase the firmware(I assume it will write the firmware after) but it stays stuck on erase even after twenty minutes and doesn't try to write the firmware.

Does anyone know what I can do next.

Guess what!!!!!!!!!

Fixed it, used a different SATA cable and it worked!!! Bloody old one was faulty.
