360 Modding help

I'm getting back into my 360's after a long lay off so I was wondering if anyone can help me with the modding scene.

I've got 2 360's the first was modded a while ago but an update which stopped working on games after HAWK came out the dashboard on it is 2.0.7357.0 and MFR 2006-10-21. Neither are banned.

The other is a HDMI model with a dashboard is 2.0.8498.0 and MFR is 2008-08-15.

Is it possible to JTAG either of these? If not is it possible/worth modding the firmware on the disc drives or is there any updates due that would brick them?

Thanks in advance for any info.

The 2.0.7357.0 can be JTAG'd but not the other one. Up to version 7371 apparently: http://www.tiaowiki.com/w/How_to_JTAG_XBOX_360

If you flash the DVD drive's firmware properly and make a backup of the original firmware and drive key, you should be fine with regards to bricking. The older Xboxes have drives which are easier to flash too, so that's a bonus.

Cheers but the 360 with the hackable dash board doesn't have the correct power connector so I don't think I can Jtag it.

Is it worth flashing the disc drives just now or is there any upcoming updates? I only ask as I don't know how to flash them myself so will try get someone else to do it and don't want to get them back and learn a week later a new flash needs to be applied

I'm out of the loop with regards to updates, but Microsoft bought out a new copy protection mechanism called AP 2.5 a few months ago. A new custom firmware was brought out which counters this though and its called iXtreme LT+

Without it, you won't be able to play new games. I think Need for Speed Hot Pursuit was one of the first AP 2.5 games, so anything after then will probably be the same

If your 360 has a Samsung drive, you don't need LT+ firmware, you can just make do with the newest version prior to it coming out which was 1.6 I think.

I think now would be an ok time to get it done

Cheers I'll look into getting them flashed now then

Now would be a bad time to get it done, as the new dashboard due out may the 19th will wipe the drive back to stock.

It will yes...

but hey paddy, you know who you shoulda asked... lol

the old one can be tagged m8. even if tagged or not you should just put LT (samsungs and hitachi's up to 47) or LT+ (for every other drive type)

head to jungleflasher.net, the tutorial is in numpty terms, (lol no offence intended)

besides that, add me to msn and I'll sort you out as always..
:D

Alright Dudey hadn't seen you on here for a while Ithought you'd gone onto greener pastures.

I'll check out that jungleflasher.net to see if I can manage it myself but I might be too much of a numpty even for that.

If I can' do it I'll try get in touch with the guy who flashed my older one a couple of years ago he seemed to know what he was doing :{

Cheers
