Wouldn't even bother with any repair on a 360.

Why not most cost peanuts to do.

Is there a disc in there at the minute? If so try powering the 360 off and laying it flat and gently hitting the area over the drive, it could be a edge is sticking up and jamming it.

Is it making any noise at all when you try to eject?

Forgot the obvious but have you tried manual release with a stiff paper clip in the hole?
#4
Push a pin in the emergency eject hole and check the power and sata plugs are in the back of it

I had a 360 with a drive that would only open with a disc in the tray. When someone took it out and closed the tray I had to tap it just above the drive to unwedge it!

If I bought a 360 off someone as working I wouldn't expect to have to carry out any repair.

They're so cheap now I wouldn't deal with the hassle of repair, I've done many a repair in the past mainly the rrod fix and yes it's cheap as chips in terms of materials but for the time and effort and considering it's not a permanent fix then I wouldn't bother anymore.

Pull the faceplate off it's there somewhere best check google
#11
Nah nothing will get this opened, I'm prepared to get this fixed somehow, but only if seller pays for the repair, otherwise it'll be going back and I'll hopefully get a refund

Have reported the thread regarding the original FS/FT thread. Should have a mod resposne shortly, hope it gets sorted.

We got a drive replaced locally, cost about £20 and is working well 6 months later.

Ah theres the difference I am a tinkerer and get satisfaction from getting something working again and if not just enjoy the tinkering, my 8 year old likes to watch too so he is learning from it as he see's how things fit together and where to use appropriate swear words (kidding on the last bit), he is quite technically minded though so may be his forté

I thought you could buy the HD drives for them pretty cheap ??

(or are these external?)

Its not the hd drive mate, its the actual disc drive/tray

If it's never been opened and less than 3 years old just send it back to MS claiming RROD.
I did that just before Christmas. They don't check and send you out a refurbished unit.

ps
Not all Xbox's have the emergency eject button.Mines didn't.

Yes I know, neither did mine.
I claimed it did though.
They don't check. For a quick turn around they just sign it in then ship another one out.

the usual fix for a sticky drive is to replace the drive band which is about £2

are you sure it doesn't have temperamental RRoD, if it's under warranty and someone else repairs it you may lose your warranty, unless they replace the seal

I can't be sure about the rrod but it seems ok, at this point just wanna put this whole deal behind me though, and move on with life :)
