3D tv help please? Samsung!

Can somebody explain it all to me please?

We have Samsung PS50B451 and apparently it is 3d enabled & we need an emitter(a cable?) and glasses.

Sorry for being vague but I am clueless!

can anyone confirm the tv is able to view 3d and if so can you use any polarised glasses?

The price of the samsung shutter shades are a joke. Thanks you.

Looking at the price I doubt it!!
#2
Looking at the stats and price i doubt this is 3D ready.
#3
At the prices I can see, that won't be 3D.

You need shutter shades, what price have you seen them for?

And as far as I can see your TV doesn't support it.

You need shutter shades if you have that type of tv, if you have a polarized set you'll need polarized glasses.

Who told you it was 3d enabled?

Bloody hell they have come down in price :O

I thought they were all shutter sets, didn't know anyone was bringing out polarized ones.

I have a polarized set but then it's a pc monitor really. Assumed the same tech was in use for tv's as polarized is better in my opinion.

"South Korean firm Hyundai uses an LCD screen to display left and right images simultaneously, using a filter over the screen to polarise the two images differently. The viewer wears polarising spectacles to see 3D image"

Just checked in the manual it says it is 3d :D
#9
Are you sure it doesn't say HD!
suspended#10
No there is a picture of a fella with 3d glasses on
[mod]#11
I find this very hard to believe.

It talks about an ir emitter & glasses.

When every other 3D tv is priced at a good £1800 plus, I doubt you'd have got one for not even £600!!

Page 25 of the manual. Looks like it does, all it needs is the glasses.

There were on Click a few weeks back, about a hundred quid a set...

Yeah, you're gonna pay a fair bit for the glasses (and an emitter, although I can't find them for sale!).

If you need several sets or break them polarized is the way to go in the future!

Straight from the samsung website for this model
3D Sync Out Yes
3D Yes (Ready)

http://www.samsung.com/baltic/consumer/detail/productPreviewRead.do?model_cd=PS50B451B2WXBT&group=tv-audio-video&type=television&subtype=plasma-tv&subsubtype=

Its 'cheap' becuase its "3D ready" meaning you have to buy the 3D pack. Also polarized is the 'cheaper' out of it and active shutter.

Adjust the PC resolution: - PS42B450/PS42B451 : 1024 x [email protected]
- PS50B450/PS50B451 : 1024 x [email protected], 1360 x [email protected]

That's what it says, so it appears it can't do it in HD, and 60hz is to slow for it so I'm confused.

That's still HD, although not full hd. I agree that 60Hz is too slow, it needs to be 120Hz really and I would expect to be setting it to that not 60Hz (although in practice each eye will receive 60Hz).

I wonder if it's some hybrid system just for games. All the info refers to PC's ?

dcx_badass
Yeah I think it's a custom samsung jobby that they created themselves.

@Benjimoron oh come on, official specs might make it HD, but it really isn't, it's a horrible low resolution.

Hd is 720, that is 768.
#21
dcx_badass
No, they call 720 HD, but that low is hardly high definition.

What? It's higher than 720, which is HD.
suspended#22
Sure looks like HD when watching sky HD :)
