what other crimes are happening that could result in your death?

Well, you are complaining. You can't break the law and say "But someone else was doing something wrong too"

There might have been "more serious" crimes happening at the time but at the moment YOU were breaking the law, the police happened to be near you.

True. I was robbing this house the other day and got knicked! Couldn't believe it! I only got a 32" LCD when I know for a FACT that the robber next door got a Panasonic 60" 3DTV.

Bloody government!

Conspiracy to commit murder? :D

As an ex-police officer, I can assure you that no police officer can ever see everything going on at any one time, nor can you catch everyone for every offence. Be patient, the driver will have his 'karma' and be caught soon enough, either for mobile use or something else.

As for more serious crimes, if something was called in while they were following you, they would've diverted. Sometimes if people get away with the small incidents, then they try something bigger until it all goes horribly wrong. I hope you can understand why you were issued a ticket and are just in the 'annoyed' stage but don't really mean much except a good vent.
#7
There probably were more serious crimes happening at the time, however, your were still committing a crime and drove straight past them. What were they supposed to do, say to themselves "well we better ignore him and look for somebody else doing something "more illegal""? Your silly fault for not wearing your belt.

It is your fault that the police had to waste their time giving you a ticket. They could have been doing proper work.

If someone had given you a bump or caused you to break hard you will go through the windscreen because you were silly enough to not bother taking literally 3 seconds to put your belt on.

Just out of interest, did you think when typing this people would agree with you and say that the police should not have bothered pulling you?!
#9
what sort of a what???
#10
if you had put it on they would of given you a warning.

as you did nothing they fined you, also usually they pull someone over that has either got
(a) history
(b) something else wrong with them or the car.

Why do people always say "Ain't you got nothing better to do?" to the police?
#12
I got done for it at the end of last year.

Glad it was not points, Just paid fine and I am more careful now(spot em first)

Surely in this day and age when everyone knows the risks they shouldn't have to be wasting their time on idiots.
#14
How can they see so clearly that you're not wearing your seatbelt? Is it just me as I've only noticed if people in the same car are wearing them.

They think that their crime in relation to others is not as serious.

Supportive guys, just fancied a we rant in here as everyone else is sick of me.

I agree its a pretty stupid thing to do and i have learned my lesson, didnt mean to complain

It's obvious when you know what to look for (which they do, because it's their job)

It's actually quite easy if the driver is of average build as you can see the belt going across the light coming through the windscreen, it's only a problem if the driver is a bit smaller, that does cause a few problems to spot.

Also, those not wearing seatbelts usually end up as becoming one with the tarmac. Those wearing them get a bit of whip lash at worse.

I suppose since the amount of deaths because people were not wearing their belts went up.

I always wear my belt, If you are going at a slowly 30 mph and someone else is coming the other way at 30mph it is going to be the same force as hitting a stationary object at 60MPH! that is an incredible force, and could seriously injure you if not kill you if you are not wearing your belt.

That wasn't meant as a moan, as I think other people have made it clear that it is stupid not wearing your belt.

Hope you have learned your lesson

Unless of course the OP is 93 years old and is losing his marbles?

OP is 19 thanks very much, not quite lost my marbles and it was a small drive from the petrol station to the house, which makes it even worse as i always put it on.

Give credit where credits due, it was a good spot, ive never ever been able to understand how they can spot this ?
Only question i have, should they have pulled me over or wait until i pulled into my drive (as they did if i didnt include this in original post)

Will pay the fine tomorow and now wil always make sure.

Maybe they did some sort of check on the car, saw you lived nearby and assumed you were on your way home so just followed you there rather than pull you on a main road

You can pull over wherever, in someone's drive is normally a good idea if it's a busy road. It depends on a lot of things really.

I have a lot to thank police for. A few years ago, my son decided to drive home after a party (he was meant to be staying there the night), well over the limit and was thankfully caught. Aged 18, night in the cell. Banned and fined etc.

We paid for his driving lessons etc. He is now 22 and has to wait until he can afford to drive and insure himself. We gave him the basics and he blew it.

Can only thank the police. If he had not been caught...might have though he could have got away with it and in the future, taken innocent lives with him

it amazes me just how many people dont wear a seatbelt, when im not driving myself and in the passenger seat im always looking in other peoples cars. my friends daughter was in a serious car accident last year and ended up going through the windowscreen of the car, she is lucky to be alive and has been in hospital over 12months but is hopefully coming home in june, she is having lots of physio and will need to learn to walk again.

I was behind this prat a few months ago who was going all over the place.
When I got beside him, I could see he was on his phone. I was furious because his driving was SO bad. I beeped my horn and he looked over as to say "And what?". Without thinking, I pointed to my shoulder (where police people have their stripes) and pointed square at him!
He put down his phone and mouthed "I'm very sorry!".

Maybe I'll get in trouble for impersonating a police officer? Or maybe he's a **** as I was wearing a plain tshirt.

i think some people just think nothing will ever happen to them, ive seen kids in back of cars looking over the parcelshelf obviously not belted in, its shocking that people do things like this. there should be some device in cars so the car wont start unless your belts plugged in.

A car went by me today. I was going 70 in a 70 zone and he went by with a whizz, with his wife.... and child in the back seat!

This world is full of idiots.

its really easy to see the twin belt hanging up to the side of the driver. Quite often we can see the silver buckle also just by the shoulder

Hope you have truly learned your lesson, Always buckle up, No excuses, You've been given a fine, Could of been a lot worse if you'd have been in an accident, Plus it's not nice having to scrap limbs and blood off the highway, Think, Always wear a seatbelt.
