At least we know who is the 'keeper(good job gaffer).
And Owen is out.
Lampard or Carrick?
Crouch or Defoe?
Lots to be sorted in 97 days.
What is your first 11?

Lampard was poor the other night, Carrick had a far better influence on the game.

Crouch over Defoe.

yeah no lamps for me....i just think he is over rated...at chelsea he has all the freedom he needs as mikel or essian will do all the definsive works....so all he needs to worry about is shooting!!!

Give Gerrard the same role for england and he more effective....

i dont really rate green that much....he just doesnt seem to be commanding enough....maybe hart is too young...could be a world cup too soon for him

the thing is if you play lampard/gerrard/carrick together then the team has no balance....joe cole is the best option for the left side of midefield....downing still needs to prove himself

Just hope its a success-the ticket sales and travel arrangements made by foreign supporters suggest its gonna be the biggest disaster of all time. When they have to slash the ticket prices to 15 quid, while great for local supporters that sets alarm bells ringing.

It looks like about 20 percent of the normal travelling support from around the world will attend and that detracts from it as a spectacle for me.

I have a horrible feeling that something bad will happen at the world cup-the security services dont look too clever to me.

I reckon its quite open-probs about 6 teams who could potentially win-genuinely believe this may be Englands time-Capello is no mug, but,of course.as always the winning team will need a little luck somewhere along the way.

I am unsure whether he will go with J Cole, lack of match fitness could be a problem

For england its the worse time to have a brazilian team who is more focused on tactical play rather then free flowing football....

If england played a brazil team who weren't very tactical but more interested in "entertaining" then i'd favour england.....but brazil are now a very solid and tactical team and for that reason they're my favourites to win the world cup

Carragher will not return, he confirmed that today on Talksport, shame really.
Most people going with Crouch, all down to his second half on Wednesday night.

Agree with ABZ, Lampard is over rated.

carragher??? are you serious....he go no pace what so ever.....can imagine him against torres/kaka etc..... add to that terry has no pace (relies on rio to cover him a number of times) thats just asking for trouble

I just hope they get rid of those annoying air-horns that they had throughout the confederations cup

Defoe just doesnt seem to do it on the big stage......rooney is more effective with a target man (Heskey or Crouch)

I think crouch is under-rated big time....just because he's tall england seem to use him as a target man...but he is quite effective with the ball at his feet aswell.....

And the robot dance at the world cup would be amazing!!!!!!!!!!:-D
#21
I think crouch is Englands "ace in the hole"-very unorthodox striker and hard to pin down-also seems to become ten times better when he pulls an England jersey on.

Scotland persevered for years with the tall striker type and became mega predictable with the long ball for the header in the box,but crouch can do it with head and feet. The way he can get the ball out of feet so fast with legs that long actually defies the laws of physics!

no chance m8-the "bubuzela" is almost a religion in south africa-EVERYONE in the crowd has one at all club and country games.
#23
Gerrard had another poor game in an England shirt, Lamp wasn't much better. Things improved dramatically when Milner, SWP and Carrick came on. I rate Gerrard as a captain but not if he plays like that.
#24
Id like to see a 4-5-1.... It will bring best out of rooney (as it's proven recently at Man U)

Green

Johnson (fitness) Ferdinand Terry A.Cole (fitness)
Or Brown or Baines

Carrick
Lennon Gerrard Lampard J.Cole/Milner (fitness)

Rooney

This is the team I would play:

Rio

Can England win it?
Spain are looking ominous to me, another heartache could be on its way.

agree, found it hard to watch the Confederations cup.... hopefully not that many local fans will be there then!

I reckon that's what the world cup will be remembered for, the F-ing horns.

That's pretty much the same team I'd go for, except Milner could be cut for Young or Lennon, Crouch could be Defoe and I wouldn't pick Rob Green ahead of James or Hart.

In fact it'd be a toss up between Green and Robinson for the third spot.

Lampard was a mess the other night, he can be very good when he gets his A game on though, Carrick/Gerrard looked much more solid. Lennon or SWP down the right wing..would like Walcott guess hes stil got time to get games under his belt.

Green

Brown Terry Ferdinand A.Cole (will he be back in time?)

SWP/Wallcott Gerrad Carrick/Lamps Joe Cole

Crouchy Rooney

crouchy is a pretty solid player think one of the commentator said hes averages 1 goal in every 2 games for England also which isnt too shabby.

Defoe is a good striker but for me he doesnt click in the England side that well

tbh its full of world class talent, it just seems they dont fully work and bounce off each other as well as other sides
