Hello all

I am a careless guy and i have lost my iphone :(
But luckly i had an insurance and i can claim
I have already reported the loss and Barred Mobile/SIM

I actually lost it on train while coming home but am not sure if that is a good reason.
I have heard that insurance companies tries hard not to give in to a claim.
I am on Vodafone insurance 12.99 per month

Can anybody say how i must present the case.I am not going to lie.

Thanks

I once lost my phone on the way home, told them exactly what happened, claimed from CPW insurance & received a new one :)

I dropped my iPhone in the sink - twice. I never had a problem with O2 replacing it, in fact both times the next day I had a new phone sat on my door step at 7AM.

They won't be evil - if you have insurance then how can they NOT give you a new phone?

You've already said you're not going to lie. You can't say it was stolen as they'd recommend getting the police involved. So just say you had it before you got on the train, it was in your pocket and when you got off it was gone - it must have slipped out on the seat. You've contacted the train company who have not had one handed in at this time.

A loss is a loss ... if you're covered I can't see why they wouldn't pay out.

Can they not say the claim is fake?
It might appear that way because its hardly a week since i bought
And yet i lost it :(

Are you sure you lost it ? it is entirely possible that you was pick pocketed.

I take it that you contacted the train ppl ? they could also tell you if they have received any complaints of theft on same train you took ? worth asking.

Good point, if it was pick pocketed then phone the police and get a crime number, does the train have CCTV? if it does then you be able to see what happened to it.

Actually I'd report it to the police anyway ... after all you don't KNOW that it was lost unless it gets handed in. Insurers will take you more seriously with a crime ref.

Plus technically if you don't get the phone back then it will be stolen by SOMEONE down the line.

My phone was stolen, from my locker at work, i reported it to the police to get a crime number, rang them up, gave them the number. They didn't pay because the room the locker was in wasn't locked (the locker was though). :x Had a loooong discussion with them about it, but no dice. He said if i was blind drunk and it fell down the toilet then they would pay out, wish that had have happened to mine...... :whistling:

I was with Vodafone at the time btw OP, but it was a few yeas ago mind

But technically speaking LOST and STOLEN is different right
I am not sure if it was pick pocketed. I cannot assure it right.
And if i say STOLEN and it was not stolen insurers can turn down my claim on that right?

I have called ScotRail and they say they have not got anything. And i dont think anybody will give back an iPhone.

But it's an iPhone which has been barred, making it quite dead.

Never rule it out, I left my wallet on the train before (D'oh!) and I was just going to chalk to up to bad luck and stupidity but someone handed it in at the station after mine.

You never know.

So there is some hope huh ? Lets see
I have been told that if its blocked it gets blocked only in UK

Not in Far East/Pakistan/China etc

Thanks anyway

I'd hand it in. Purely on a selfish level though. I have enough bad luck without adding bad karma to it too (have often wondered what I must have done in previous life lol).

It's also nice to restore someone's faith in human kind too - if it's not claimed within x number of weeks/months I think the finder can keep it legally then ? Not sure so don't quote me on it :)

You must be gutted though. I know I would be!
