Im thinking a white shirt and tie is too much,

Smart shirt, and Dark Trousers with dressy shoes?

All a bit sudden.

Always wear a smart shirt and tie at the very least.

Always, always, always.

I'm of the opinion you can't "overdress" for an interview. Showing a lack of effort for an interview can be viewed that you will be like this if they hire you. Just stick a tie on and you can't go wrong. Best of luck!

OP if you want the job, wear: suit, pressed shirt, tie, and polished shoes.
If you don't want the job wear: what you want.

Simples.

In that case, what about a suit jacket to go with, too much?

I would always wear a suit, jacket included, to any interview, wedding or funeral I go to.

I always wear a suit jacket but I think this is more optional than a tie, it's important you feel comfortable also but if you have the suit jacket, might as well wear it!

If you didn't wear a suit where I work, even for a job like that, you would be out the door faster than Speedy Gonzalez

You can wear a suit many ways but wear one at an interview at the least.
