Hi there everyone i need a little advice on an ebay transaction.

i have sold a mobile phone the other day and the buyer left feedback saying the item was perfect ect,

now i have just checked my ebay mail and they are saying the item isnt working correctly can they open a dispute/claim there money back ?

i checked this phone before i sold it and there was not a problem but now the buyer has told me that some of the touch screen isnt working the internet works when it wants.

any advice would be great thank.

Did the buyer pay via paypal?
If yes....... get ready to part with your cash!!

i have had a situation like this before.but as Ebay stands at the moment they are all for the buyer!!! and probably wont even take that feedback into consideration! and give them theyr money straight back and you end with nothing!! typical paypal/ebay
#3
your right there.. ebay is all for the buyer now! not the seller.
whosthere?

They need to sort these issues out.......
its become a real magnate for scammers
unfortunately there is little op can do........

yes the buyer paid via paypal and if paypal were to decide the buyer had to get a refund would the buyer have to send the item back ?

thanks for all your replys guys and girls :)

Here is my advice, ask him to return the phone to you, and inspect it, see if its been tampered with or damaged, then test to see if the claimed issues exist, and go from there

The buyer would have to send the the phone back by a tracked method and then you would have to refund them.

Disagree, i would not remind him/her to return it recorded, as if it gets lost, he/she has no leg to stand on with paypal

Thing is here, everyone uses different features of a phone more than others, is it possible this person is actually having some issues they didn't discover on first use? not every ebayer is a rascal

I had the exact same problem. Unfortunately ebay found in the buyers favour and i got the phone back - which unsurprisingly was working perfectly. They had the use of my phone for nearly 2 months for free

not if he puts in a paypal claim.......
there is no discussion then.
They take the money right back.

Not true at all, they put a hold on the payment until you sort out the dispute, paypal hold it. the buyer doesn't get it back that easily

ive just sold my laptop and im worried about something like this happeneing, i said to my partner if they try any funny business then im closing paypal and my ebay accounts before they take the money back, lol
#14
You can even hire an independant 'Expert' to examine the phone and judge if it has the faults claimed... or at least you can tell this to the buyer, it may call their bluff

You have seller protection, as much as the buyer has protection, just make sure you post only to the registered address..

I deal with paypal 50 or so times per day, you just need to know what to do , and how to cover yourself.

Paypal like hard evidence, so give them it and you are fine

youd be surprised........ not pleasantly though.
Almost all paypal claims are decided in the favour of the buyer. They hold your money while its being decided......... and then give it back to the buyer once decision is arrived upon.

You are going to have to accept it back and take it from there,

Have you kept a note of the imei number incase they return a different phone?

I would think though if it was a scammer they would not have left you positive feedback so maybe they are genuine enough and it really isn't working 100%

I wouldn;t be suprised, it's happened to me before, and never since..

As i said, you need to cover your ass with paypal.. it's as simple as that really

I have provided a way to do so, you can either bluff that you are caling in an independant expert to test the phone, or compose an email to the buyer saying that you are going to do so in order to provide paypal with evidence that the phone is in 100% working order.

This may scare off someone who is trying it on

You can of course go ahead and get a qualified person to examine the phone, and provide the proof to paypal, this will then go in your favour if the phone is indeed 'as described'

If you withdraw their payment from your Paypal account into your bank account - so your Paypal balance is £0 ... how can they take anything back???

Hmm,strange,your right,that wouldn't actually be possible

Ask them to explain how they came to that conclusion
