friend has an old pc (pentium 3, 256mb ram, running win 2000 pro) with a marvell libertas 8335 wireless card.

you have to click on a marvell libertas (ML) icon to set it away before clicking for firefox or explorer or whatever, except it's no longer working.

device manager says fine, plus driver seems okay.

when you click on ML icon, the ML startup screen appears for a split second (saying "not connected") then the screen goes blank and the pc restarts.

any ideas what is wrong with it?

she has a netgear router on sky broadband

hmmm - that'd be tricky - no discs plus it's windows 2000 - doubt there'll be an inbuilt restore function

Uninstall it and do a reinstall.

she doesn't have any discs at all

none for the operating system and none for the wiresless card, so we're a bit goosed.

just wondered if it was something simple i'd missed

cheers gav

that'll be my next port of call

pretty sure it has the 3.2.1.3 driver, but the one i'd downloaded earlier today (didn't install it cos it seemed the same one as was already on) was only around 300kb so maybe your's is a pukka version

thanks

is it worthwhile trying a live cd of xubuntu or something?

No as there isn't a linux driver for the wireless card.
