I've seen these on the news, they have them in Blackpool near me but it isn't a busy road.

I'm not quite sure why they build them that sturdily... surely it'd be safer if they did less damage to people's cars and kinda crumpled up a bit instead.

Is that real? That's really not funny. They were carrying kids out of the cars and everything. The funny soundtrack really didn't even make it funny.

Yeah, on woman tried to cliam compensation off the council and they actually charged her for damaging the bollard!!

I know Emma - was funny to me till I seen kids in the car - did you see the last one with tthe transit van - the windscreen cracked - guy obviously didn't have a seat belt on - but that could have killed him.

I'm not sure but I reckon who is 'operating' the bollards is getting a kick out of this.

I'm quite disturbed at that. I didn't even notice the windscreen crack until you said that.

They're automatic. Busses and taxis have devices witted that make them go down as they approach and up as they leave. There is no one "controlling" them. The ones in blackpool you need to scan in a pass to get them to lower down.

Well, do you think those people driving actually knew the bollards were there, and they were just chancing their luck and trying to force their way through?
#10
Probably not. You just follow the bus through expecting that there's a clear way don't you??

That's what I thought. but watch the jeep, it seems as if it's trying to accelerate through...

And aren't there massive signs that tells you that thesae bollards are there?

If you look at the start of the video there are 'warning' signs flashing saying these are active.

Personally if I'd seen any warning sign I wouldn't have tried. Perhaps they are trying to 'beat' the bollards as the buses go through.

I seen this on a car park once and watched someone trying to 'escape' without paying after someone had put their ticket in. Hardly worth damaging your car for 2.50 and I try to save every penny!

PS after an incident tonight where I had a guy come up the slip road I was going down (it's a one way slip road down from the motorway) I beleive people will try anything if it's a shortcut. Never mind that he nearly killed me in the process (oh and himself and passenger )

Being a Manc, i have seen this countless times on local news, it's a big problem, seems to be driver's just can't read signs, see a bus or the like go for it, and then see the bollards, well feel them!
