Hi guys, it doesn't take much to confuse me but! In recent deals I have seen people mention plasma has a higher electricity usage than lcd, but then today I saw a lesser mentioned make lcd had a higher usage than the equivilent branded lcd. Still with me?

So as we have a 40 inch Bravia, (thanks to HUKD), we were looking for either a larger set for us or buy a similar one for the kids, but I am now confused by the power usage mentioned on many forums, as the kids will obviously leave thiers on day and night, even when not watching it or even in the room.

LCD's are generally more economical, But during dark scenes Plasma's can in fairy be more economical as LCD screens require the back light to be on all the time. Plasma's power each pixel individually and less light = less power, Where as LCD's generally use the same amount of power all the time.

Don't know if this is true but I recall reading the 720p sets consume a lot less power than 1080p sets, I suppose it's obvious because there's less pixels.
