A rant and rave about Toasters...

What is it with toasters?
A four slice toaster does not properly toast 4 slices, you can fit 2 in sideways but you have to put 4 slices in upways which means the bread dont properly toast so whats the point in 4 slice toasters????
Mini grills are the same, I was reading the book and it says put 4 slices in sideways, it barely fits 2!!!!
What sort of bread do the maufactures use..... weightwatchers?? Which is another thing, All weightwatchers food is only healthier than normal food because its half the size but double the price... whats that all about?

If someone knows of a Toaster that I can fit 4 slices of Warburtons bread in and have it toast the bread completely PLEASE let me know where to get it from, I mean not even Toastie bread fits in toasters upways!!!! ARGHHHH!!!!

Rant over gonna make myself a toastie.....wait TOASTIE BAGS!!!!! they dont fit either!! You can only just get the whole sandwich in the bag and it has to, yes you guessed it, sit upways in the toaster.

I am raging war against toasters.

Rant over this time.

We have this one and it fits full slices in nicely, even from the larger uncut loaves (cant beat a doorstop of toast crispy on the outside soft in the middle and dripping with real butter). the slots are wide too but auto adjust too.

We've got a delonghi 4 slice toaster and have to admit that the warburtons is a bit of a squeeze but it does toast it all (sometimes a bit wiggly), I know it's a faff but if you don't like it "wiggly" then just cut either the top or bottom crust off as it makes a kind of crust when it's toasted anyway, I cut them all off for my daughters when I toast them, or at least I used to as they still leave what they say is definitely a crust!!

maybe i'm just nit-picking but it sounds more like you have a problem with the size of bread rather than toasters.

I'll join you on your protest :) This has been a bug bear for me too.

just to add to this rant why do new toaster make the toast really dry? it is not as hot when it comes out so the butter doen't melt as well....

Maybe but you would expect Toastie bread to fit upways in a toaster lol

Will check the delonghi then, thanx

The problem is that I only get cremated bread that way (I remember the bread is in there too late!)

I read that title as 'A rant and rave about tossers' Oh dear :(

Awwww @rant you need cheering up! You have highlighted the Warburtons bread size issue very well.
I find watching bread toasting under the grill really therapeutic. I feel like I have worked for that piece of toast. Where as the toaster machine is instant gratification. Though in your case rbquk I think short of lighting a mini bonfire in your backyard and skewering the bread on sticks (this does work btw) you might want to invest in http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dualit-Slice-Stainless-Toaster-40352/dp/B00008BQZC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1236860187&sr=1-2 £171.21 this is like the Gucci Maine/Tupac of toasters. It weighs in at around 4.25 kg just think of the impact it would make when you hurl it during a domestic!
I hope your day gets a lot better :w00t:

Buy a dualit and your be ok stop wasting money on changing your toaster every year these last 15 years+ and toast to perfection.

Dude, get some perspective! It's not the end of the world.

Best take out an extension on the morgage for that lol.
Day just gets worse as it goes on, partner says she will take the little one out for an hour so I can get on with some work i needed to do but i ended up having to do the ironing, the washing, making lunch and the dishes..... Nice break for a stay at home dad and all of a sudden toasters dont seem that important lol.

I had the same problem so after trying about 4 different toasters I finally settled on the breville 4 slice toaster. it was about £45 but toasts great just what you would expect, bought mine from comet a few months ago.

Yup, agreed . Had ours for almost 10 years now and it toasts perfectly everytime (4 slots too ;-)) Works the same today as it did when we first bought it. Definately worth the investment imo.

I read on another forum about a woman who made a bread template because she was fed up of the top of the bread not being toasted as it didn't all fit in the toaster.

That was Warburtons too,she took the template around department stores until she found one that fit..lol
