Right then....

3 people have a meal coming to £30 so they split the bill 3 ways, all throwing £10 in each.

a few minutes later the waiter comes back sayin "sorry but we have overcharged you, the bill only came to £25".

on this they all take £1 back out of the change and give the waiter £2 for a tip

meaning they have all paid £9 for there meals and the waiter has £2

9+9+9=27 plus the 2 off the waiter is 29

wheres the other pound gone...:?

£30 less £3 is £27

Not exactly a riddle.

Not exactly a riddle.

But the tip is only £2...

Yes they gave him the £2 they didn't take back. Or two people gave the waiter £1 each and one cheapskate didn't, and they over paid for the meal. Am I missing something?

Lol, no, he didn't, they took £1 each. Thats £3 not £5. The waiter is then left with £2. 3+2 = 5

2 nosey inlaws and a totally insufficent dowery!

Me and the neighbours kids are all going around singing it now.

Very well made but its the way they say butter chicken that gets me. I showed it to some friends who are Indian and they loved it.

ok...............it is late. I think i need some brain sleep...:giggle:

£3 went back in the peeps pockets

no missing money

£10 x 3 = £30

£1 x 3 =£3 refunded

£2 x 1 = £2 tip

That makes £25 for meal, £3 refund + £2 tip = £30

You need to forget the £9 x 3 concept cos, it is £30 initially paid, effectually £5 refunded, divided as £3 refunded, £2 tip. The refunded amount of £1 each, makes for the £9 paid per meal.

13 times 7 equals 28 and I can prove it!
