My missus spotted this on the way to work, close to Gatwick.

Seems they're really cashing in on the panic buying everyone seemed to be doing yesterday.

Have there been any crazy petrol rises in your area this week?

123.9?? I'm surprised that people still go and fill up at these petrol stations. I always go to Tesco to fill up and save nearly 50p each time compared to if I went to Texaco or Shell.

Mate there are a Shell and BP together where I live, literally next to each other. BP is always 2 or 3p more than the Shell and people are still seen topping up there. It's not the Shell is hidden behind the BP or anything - they're neighbours. I honestly think some people have no sodding clue about anything and will just shove petrol into their car "cuz that's what it says in the manual".

My gf got home 45 mins late yesterday due to panic buyers at another Shell garage. This dopey bitch in a golden "blinged out bruv" Nova/Saxo/whatever took about 20 minutes to get the petrol in her car. She got out, put her handbag in her car, got out to get petrol, put the hose back, got her bag out again, spend 10 minutes putting it into her car (with the plastic gloves on, which took another 5 minutes for her to work out how to put them on). How do these people get on the road?

114.9 for Unleaded in Peterborough this morning............i filled up which set me back £80.

Was only going to put the usual £40 in but as they were queuing about 8 deep at the pumps i decided that i wasn't bothering to mess about.

This "cashing in" has gone on for several months. It is all a big con being played by the government and the petrol companies.

i blame the greedy tanker drivers they already earn 35-39 grand before overtime and have been offered 6.8% but no thats not enough they should try doing a real job for a lot less and forced with a 1.9% pay rise then the fat wasters would know how lucky they are! ok rant over

Maybe nectar points come into play in this instance

Prices are leaping up - but just coming back from work in the last couple of weeks its noticeable the traffic is lighter.

Also, locally met neighbours I haven't seen in years at the local shops - seems folks are actually walking the short distances.:w00t:

yep they reckon it will be £2.30 a litre by 2009, means my car would be about £140 for a full tank! dont know how most people would be able to afford that, especially if they have a long drive to work

Its over 130p diesel here in Belfast and 117p - 121p for petrol. I have a 1 litre small car, it costs me nearly £60 fill it up and that lasts about 2 weeks.

Wish there were better public transport links to my work! I have noticed over the last few weeks traffic is getting lighter, I wonder are more people using buses and car sharing etc?

I trying to use my car as little as possible now, just getting far too expensive to run. I remember when I passed my test and got my first car it was about 45p a litre!

I lived in a shop between 1974 and 1978, next to a petrol station and I remember the punters actually fighting at the pumps coz the price was raised from 32p to 33p a GALLON!!!!

Mind you, I've also got a photo of my old man standing in front of the fag counter of the shop and all the fags are priced at 32p for twenty!! :)

Why do I feel old?? :)
#31
4 star. I remember my dad's old Y reg Fiesta running on that. Wtf happened to it? (the petrol that is, the car's long gone :( )
#32
On a lighter note:

I was playing GTA iV on Live the other day and I was driving my teammates over to enemy territory. On the way I saw a gas station and said "K guys, wait, look at the price of petrol". We proceeded to get out of the car and shoot the living **** out of the pumps ranting about the price of fuel as we unloaded bullets across the forecourt.

GTA - tempory fix to petrol woes.

4 star is unleaded i believe

Looks like I'm gonna need to top up tonight, luckily it won't be until about 9.30 - in which case I hope all the 'panickers' are tucked up in bed.
