Green flag starts at £20

http://www.greenflag.com/

Also, the AA seems more like a marketing organisation dedicated to making money out of people these days, rather than an organisation for the benefit of motorists.

Look at the AA homepage and check out just how much space is devoted to motoring issues as such, and how much is dedicated to general finance, insurance, savings, hotels, pet insurance - PET INSURANCE?!?! - credit cards - restaurants and pubs - holidays, etc.

Plus I bet you put yourself in the way of a bunch of junk mail if you give your details to the AA

Thanks, will give green flag a go

I have used them in the past and they've actually been great having towed the car home and collecting it the next morning after we decided which repair place we wanted to use. Green flag was included with our old car insurance which was a bargain.

As for the AA junkmail, I seem to already be getting loads from them. Had RAC warranty with one car before and they sold that off to the AA so I guess I'm not going to get rid of that I guess. :x

£31.50 in Tesco Clubcard Vouchers will get you RAC Roadside - At Home

Other options available between £16.50 > £72.00 in vouchers.

I don't have much club points :-( ... don't shop at Tesco's much I'm afraid

If you go thru Asda.com for breadown, it's recovery from Green Flag, but cheaper and you can pay monthly at no extra charge!

Edit: Had a look at Asda. Doesn't seem to be any greenflag there. They have a pay monthly option, but works out quite high compared to the £20 once off.
"You can get Asda Breakdown Cover for only £6.16 a month or £73.92 a year."

I'd check out MoneySavingExpert website for all the tips on the cheapest

I've opted for AutoAid, been with them 3 years now £35pa home recovery.

Thanks for the link.. I'm surprised there's no mention of GreenFlag on there.

I remember reading about AutoAid .. good if you have cash to pay upfront and claim later perhaps. I'd prefer to not do that.

So far GreenFlag is looking tops for the basic get you home cover ... £20 for cover of the car, or £30 covering the person in any car, including spouse free.
Thinking I will go the £30 option as I'm planning to get another car soon and I'm thinking it will be more than 5 years old for sure.

The AA cover at £30 does seem good as they have sent me details for basic cover for another year for £63. I've had my 2 cars insured with them for the past year , but wentcompared and found some cracking deals ,so now with Churchill & SAGA . AA stil pestering me with reminders for insurance and AA cover to which I have declined .I got basic Greenflag cover thrown in with Churchill , but not sure if that covers me for the other car though .I would go with the Greenflag if I were you ,the AA seem forcefull with there sales tactics.
