Absolute rubbish! Buy good ones - they'll last longer

Cheap ones leak, will ruin your remote controls.

You can use any old junk in tv remotes. Power consumption is minimal with them. I've had 4 no brand never even heard of them AAA's in my tv one for at least 5 years and they still work fine. If you are buying carp ones juest check them every so often to make sure they aren't leaking

Cheers for the replies, I'll get a couple of packs of better brands. Asda had energizer on offer 4 for £1 in AA's a while back shame they never had AAA's.

Cheers I'll have a look for them next weekend when I'm down the local market. There are 20+ different pound shops there.

If you have a Home Bargains, they have packs of "Supacell Digital" very cheap, they are as good as Duracell and are around £1.59 for a pack of 16 AA, i think the AAA are cheaper around £1.39

Pound shop ones a re rubbish, got loads for the little ones toys and seem to be changing them every week.

Wilko's standard own brand (red rather than blue) are 50p for four and seem to last forever in remotes.

Alkaline based batteries will last much longer and be more leak-proof than Zinc Carbon and Zinc Chloride cells. The brand isn't so important, the type is, so if you are buying Poundland batteries look out for ones that say Alkaline (will be 4-8 for a pound rather than 16/20 but overall will last longer!)

I always check if they are alkaline.
