I was having trouble connecting it to my computer, nothing happened after about 6 attempts then it connected. I decided to restore it to see if that would help. It wiped everything off as it was supposed to then a message came up saying that it could not be restored because of an unknown error. I closed this and disconnected the ipod and was left with a photo on the ipod of a cd and the connecting lead, I then tried connecting it again and it says that it has ''detected an ipod in recovery mode and that it needs restoring''. Every time I do this the error message comes up. So I'm now left with an ipod with no music that just showes the cd and lead when its turned on. I cant find my receipt but just looked at my bank statement and it was bought in November. If I bring it back to Argos tomorrow will thy help me out? Or does anybody know how to fix it please?

If you put the serial number in here:

https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do

it'll tell you what your warranty options through Apple are.

The bank statement will allow argos to check on their systems to verify the purchase, a receipt is not the only valid proof of purchase

unless it's changed argos dont have a system to check past purchases but a bank statement would be good enough. if it's more than a month they'd send it off for repair, under a month they'd replace it.

Thats really helpful. I tried it and it says

Hey

Not sure if this is any help but my mate had same problem with his touch. put it on my mac and did the update, went on fine.. Then synced with his and all is now well.

Not sure if it would have worked simply with another PC or if it was somethign to do with the fact I use a mac?

Anyhow, if you know anyone else with a PC, worth a try to save you taking it back?

Good luck.

Took it back to Argos today and they were brill, I explained that I didn't have my receipt just a bank statement but they didn't even ask to see it. They have taken it to be repaired. I was very impressed with their customer service. Thanks for all your help. I have given rep to you all.

If someone has bought something from a retailer and paid cash for, can someone send a cash receipt to the other person if they have no receipt and if it wasnt purchased from Argos?

Lets say you've bought a Wii from PC World for £179.99 but it's faulty and they got no receipt, can someone send that person a cash receipt of a Wii that was bought for the same price in another store?

Unlikely, the stock serial numbers would be recorded - that being said, does rely on them checking but thats why they take your details...

yeah it is possible to do that unless the serial number is on the receipt thats the only thing i see as a problem make sure the receipt hasn't got the serial number on so they cant match the receipt with the product
