Abuse of QUIDCO.

I was concerned that someone allegedly had their quidco account closed recently. They did admit multiple insurances, power switches for family members which breaks quidco's t&c's.

I have personally switched power suppliers 3 times in the last 8 months, with quidco paying out.

Have just switched to eon, and will now be switching back to British Gas as £70 is being paid, and it is the cheapest.

I don't just do this for quidco, but I track the cheapest and switch accordingly..

I don't see anything wrong in doing this, but am concerned quidco may deem it as "Abusing the system"???

What do you guys think about this??

The title makes up peoples minds imo.

Use cashbackkings and topcashback also to "spread the load".

Quidco are overzealous imo, far too quick to allege "abuse".

Wepromiseto are even worse though. COWBOYS.

Was looking into this cheers, thing is, quidco are offering £70 for a british gas switch, the other two sites only offering £40. I have had a chat with a mod at cashbackkings, and apparently after it has validated, I can put a ticket in and they will match and make up the difference???

But incase it does not validate in time, quidco may go back to £40??

Hm, I'd still be inclined to go with cashbackkings - they've honoured every claim I've put in and it's so easy to do. In short, I trust them more than Quidco.

I thought it worked like this: as long as its all in your name on your address and your own credit card that they don't see it as abuse. You cant be the only person who switches accordingly to save money. I hope they don't start shutting everyones account because of this. I am still at the coin stage :/ no tree

Lol, I got my tree :-D

I dunno, it may be worth raising a ticket with them in preparation for the switch, but why bother?

Both TCB and CBK let you abuse, I mean, utlilise the hell out of merchants with no comeback - in actual fact, the mods on CBK (and Rpoints!) have sent me PMs asking me how to get in on the action!!! :-D

My quidco is just over two grand for the last 18 months. Not all switching energy suppliers... I think I may use cashbackkings for this one as I have around £400 pending with quidco I can;t afford to lose.

heh grex you really shouldn't tell me about your tree grrrrrr :P
I am now tempted to take my meager coins and defect to TCB or CBK :)

chiptivo i am worried for you in case they do what they did to the other person (worst case scenario)
I think you are wise to use cashbackkings. Its a lot of money and too much uncertainty at risk otherwise. Good call :)

A lot of it was made in the early days when they were less zealous with the banstick.

I still use them when they work out competitive but they're not my main ones now.

Don't be angry, the tree will come little one

you know this post shows up as third place in a google search. I was looking for similar scenarios of switching in various forums when i noticed it . Hopefully Quidco will chill out a bit considering it has competition.

Crikey!!! we've done well!!!

Nah, what bugs me about Quidco is the "holier than thou" attitude. They banned (removed) a whole host of merchants a while ago that some were abusing, instead if just saying - "look guys, no more or we'll ban you". Stopped a lot of genuine folks benefitting. Left a sour taste.

Don't get me wrong, they're entitled to pretect their reputation, just be open about it.

As mentioned CBK are alot better, you can match other sites cashback, no £5 fee and they are not bothered about sharing accounts

arent you tied up to energy contract on a yearly basis?

No. I never use the tie in contracts. British gases new websaver now has a 30 pound get out so you have to carefull which tarrifs you choose

Wow, thanks! Will have a look at my contract then!

What site do you use to check who's the cheapest supplier in your area??

To be honest, that's not exactly what happened :)

Quidco have sureshop, which is there to protect their members link

What happened is in the blog here: http://www.quidco.com/blog/?p=188

Some merchants were reluctant to join sure shop, some weren't fully supported by their network which inevitably led to Quidco making the decision as detailed in the blog above.

This chat should be in the Quidco anything and everything thread here:

So going to lock this thread up now :)
