Accessing internet on iphone via 3G on the 3 network

Hi I sold an iPhone on eBay and it was unlocked/jailbroken. The customer is on the 3 network and is going crazy that he can't access the internet on the go via the 3G (not the Wifi as that works fine).

As far as I know (and I may be wrong) you can only use 3G if your on O2 but I wanted to know if there was anyway around that so the guy can use the internet through his network provider rather than through wifi.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

He will need a 3G sim (doesn't have to be an 02 one).
#2

This guy is a psycho! Because I said the phone is 'unlocked and works with any sim' he thinks that because the internet is not working, I mislead him and wants his money back.

I mentioned on the auction that I don't accept returns (I would if the phone was faulty) but he's adament that he wants his money back and also threatened to come pay me a visit and that he wasn't afraid to go to jail over this (LOL)

My argument is that he should have known about the capabilities of the phone before purchasing.

Does he have grounds for a refund or am I in the right?

He is on the 3 network and is using that sim, he rang his network up and they said the phone is blocked even though he gets reception and can make calls. Aren't all 3 sim cards 3G?

No he hasn't got the settings, he said he rang up 3 to get the settings but they didn't come, does anybody know them so he can input them manually?

True, I think I should leave him to it. Definetly the worst customer I have ever dealt with!

Thanks for the input anyway guys, as long as I know it's possible and I don't have to refund him. Hopefully he doesn't come back with another problem!

there is a simple solution to this. i have an jailbroken/unlocked iphone 3gs, and 3g & wifi working fine. to get the internet to work via 3g on the 3 network all he has to do is click, settings, general, network, cellular data network, and in the box at the top with the heading Cellular Data enter three.co.uk in the APN box, leave everthing else blank as password and username not required and leave all other boxes below this blank, thats it, 3g should fire up, if not just reboot then should be ok...

Thanks for that, I'm going to keep that info for myself and let the guy figure it out himself cos he's given me way too much hassle lol.
