Accomodation in Shannon - Ireland

I hope someone can help. I've never been to Ireland before but have just booked a flight for 1 adult and 2 children - early teens - to Shannon on 2nd feb for 5 days . I wanted it to be a bargain holiday but am struggling to find cheap (reasonable) accomodation. Don't mind hotel, B&B or caravan etc.. as long as it's cheap. I don't know Ireland at all, just know we are flying into Shannon so would be good if accom. isn't too far away as prob won't have a car.
Has anyone any recommendations?
Thanks in advance

Hi I am from the west of Ireland, I hope the weather is ok when your there

I think if you're not driving you might be limited to what you can do/see so go to http://www.buseireann.ie Bus Fares are not too bad and you might get on a tour or something. There's loads to see, way too much to mention and I find when I'm exploring a new place your best finding and choosing your own places of interest

i've been to shannon airport a few times – stayed with relations in Limerick, they've moved down south now so can't really suggest in terms of accomodation. I remember an old castle by the big river, was taken there for an afternoon. Not a lot in the building but it's quite relaxed and small and there are multimedia bits that might be interesting for the kids. There's also a nice trendy foodie place called Luigi Malones where I remember there were these bbq chicken wings starter that was plenty I didn't need a main meal afters! Their dessert is quite good too, maybe google for prices and menu?

hi,
I dont really have any specifics... about 2 years ago me and a friend went travelling round Ireland and we passed through Shannon - there will be loads of B & B's for you to choose from, most of em worked out at about £20 pp per night.... the people there are lovely & will help you. We were there in August and found it easy to get ino B & B's - and nice ones at that! Enjoy your trip - Ireland beautiful

Until last year I was offering my aunts 2 bed cottage in the west of ireland for silly money on here and ebay but we're in conversation about renting this via long term lets.
However nothings guaranteed so pm me if your interested and I'll send you some pics..in fact I really should pay for some web space!
