Not sure if i should post this here, but thought it would get read more, than any other area.

But just to let you all know, my Play.com account got hacked today and someone purchased an item of there using my Bank Debit Card.

Even though i had not use their website for nearly a year, someone managed to get into my account and place an order.

If you have an account with them may be best to login and changed your password.

Hopefully this is helpful to you all.

Surely the order would have to go to the credit card holder's address?????
#3
So did Play stand the cost ????
#4
What did they order ?
#5
erm wrong forum should be in misc isnt a deal!
#6
Not much of a deal that - unless you were the hacker I guess....
#7
they ordered a £50 mobile phone.

The way i noticed is that i got a confirmation email confirming the order, and only thought suspicous when it had my full name in the email body.

Also they put their own delivery address on their as well.

I rang Play.com they said before today last time i logged in was 2007 and confirmed that my account was hacked.

I have to claim back from bank, i even called the police but they did not sound that intrested, i had to make them take the delivery address in the email.

not a deal no, but i put it here as this forum gets read the most and thought it would be useful. Not after any rep etc just thought it would be good to inform people.

yea exactly, i would assume more people read the Deals then anything else, even if some peopl just pop onto the site, the only place they will go is the Deals forum.
#13
Wouldn't it be delivered to your address though or can that be changed?
#14
It was changed in the email, i received and confirmed with Play that is where it is going.

You can have a different delivery address, its you billing address that has to be the same has the card.

i did not ask that question, when i called them they confirmed the order had gone through and they could not stop it.

My account has now been deleted off their system.

Me neither, simply add what you want to basket then confirm, no card details need to be added.

oh maybe i havent had to add them then either, have just tried to remove my cc deatils and it wont let me, it will only let me edit them, not remove them
#28
Just copied this from Play

We do not store your CV2 number, but use it to perform a security check when you change your credit/debit card details in any way.

I guess they only ask for it if you change any details
banned#29
i know they dont store it, but still thought you got asked for it with each sale, obviously not

It might let you substitute 0's for the real card number some systems do :)
#31
How many of you impulse bought from Play 'cus you didn't have to card details?
#32
Can the culprits not be caught at the new delivery address?
#33
Who knows i had to force the police to take the address, they did not really care.

I hope they follow it up then. I am annoyed that they haven't taken an interest! Things like this are happening too often over the internet :x
