I had a cyclo ds so ordered an acecard 2 from deal extreme the box clearly says dsi compatable. We have just tried it and it isnt working it says loading but has been doing that for about 10 mins nothing happening. I am presuming the worst at the moment and that none of the games i have on my computer will work. Needless to say my 10 year old son is gutted. Anybody any ideas.

Yes I be interested to know if anyone getting anything to work with these new DSi's,lots of threads about it at moment but we need some testers to confirm whats what with those who own.

If you need to actually pay for the games you mean?

Buy games instead of obtaining pirate copies. Works 100%.

Well yes,if not he get a DS Lite to replace his original silver DS.

I got it from deal extreme it is an acekard 2 but with a sticker on saying DSi compatable.

And regarding buying games, whilst I understand the comment believe you me Nintendo have had hundreds of pounds off me and still do with the Wii.

Others have reported the Acecard 2i working here:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/371837/nintendo-dsi-availble-now-only-134-

Original R4 does not work neither does the TT. I have read on another forum that the new R4i does work

But that's still no valid justification:)

Send it back or see if there's upgraded f/w available.

Can we not turn this into a "Why piracy is justified" thread please?

If you can't afford the games, don't buy the console - 'nuff said.

Buy the console copy the games works for me.

The DSI is now region locked...surely this is why this card wont work with a PAL machines ????

But as echoed above some titles are only £9.99 now, don't drive the prices any higher :O(
#12
i have got the dsi from littlewoods deal £119.77 and i also bought a r4i and it works fine, i also have an older dstt and that does not work, also the r4i can be used to play backups of your original games, so you haven't got to carry around all your expensive cartridges, not just for playing copies, apparentley all the cards with a i at the end work, r4i,dstti,acekard 2i,:)
#13
Can the DSi have DSi only games or just DS games?

lol.

What DSi games?

They are planning to release DSI only carts as well as "enhanced" contents on regular carts for DSI users. Going to be a headache for retail as parents buy the wrong carts for the DS.

DSI carts are not region locked. However, you will only be able to access the online DSI-ware store for your region - so Japanese DSi = Japanese DSi store.

The region your flash cart does not work - even though it claims to - is that the European firmware was updated to lock out some of the carts that worked on the jap consoles. As it is only just out here there is a possibility of a firmware fix for the flash carts in the future.

EDIT

Apparently people are reporting that updating to firmware v4.15 works with euro DSi.

The reason that peoples "i" flashcart don't work is because they have not set them up correctly.

Please elaborate? Do you mean they have not loaded the latest firmware? (for the card).

I guess if you find a card that works with your current DSi firmware then you are not "forced" to upgrade your firmware OTA.

Also, does anyone know if the web browser is a "free" download, as I cannot seem to get the machine to link up to my Belkin G router to get online. Anyone else had this problem (error code 052100-2)

Nintendo haven't released a firmware upgrade that stops the DSi working as yet, so people are safe to update their DSi to the latest if this service is available by Nintendo.
They also should also have the latest Micro firmware available on their flashcart.

If/When Nintendo do this, then users have the option not to upgrade, but then they may be stuck with playing DS games on their shiny new DSi that they rushed into buying because...Well, I don't honestly know.

Who knows how it will all pan out?

v4.15 is only just out so no need to be so snooty. Not everyone is a l33t as you.

Can confirm the AceKard 2 from dealextreme works with the DSi - not particularly straight forward which files you need to just make it work - but it's not that difficult. Mine came with a "DSi Compatible" sticker on the box and I installed the AKAIO 1.4.1 software on it.
I "Rushed out to buy one" for my son as the hinge on his trusty DS broke just days before his Birthday - he wanted a new one to replace it otherwise wouldn't have bothered.

The handheld itself with no games keeps him amused for hours with the photo capability and effects package that's included

Was it difficult to download the AKAio !.4.1. have found a site that has it but a little unsure what to do with files etc. There instructions mention Roots and things. What was your experience.

Goofey's girl, if a means appears to allow pirated/stolen games to run on an AK2, It will take a while. You're best off buying an acekard2i (note the i) form DX.

Is it just pirated games, or homebrew like colors as well? (Do you even know what homebrew is?)
#23
Not a clue other than something my dad used to make in the garage....lol

I have found a friend who can help me so thanks anyway. Hopefully one happy kid for Easter with all the games now on his new DSI.

Yes its now working fine so i can recommend the acekrd 2i. i did not realise i would have to download the firmware off the site but found this simple to do. Remember to unzip the files and then put themo nto your memory card. If i can do it anyone can.
Thanks for all your replies and help.
