Customer service is okay. When I last claimed on warranty they replaced.

Not sure if battery comes under warranty though.

Acer are pretty poor by all accounts for CS - and batteries are usually items that aren't covered by warranty.

But you have nothing to lose by calling them - or going back to the shop you got it from.

They will replace it for you but....you need to send the whole netbook back. They asked me to do this when I asked them to replace my battery but I left it as I couldn't be bothered.

Got it from Asda (lost reciept) but the product has not been registered with them!! Its totally gone and think its defective as it does not hold charge at all! Also think it would be better to email them as over the phone they would do my head in!

if you find the receipt take it back to asda, they usually do instant returns.

if not, take your bank/credit card statement showing the transaction, that should be enough proof.

Why would they want the netbook, as is a headache!! Did they ask for POP? Also paid cash!!

They want the netbook back to see if anything's been tampered with or if it's a software fault etc.

I couldn't be bothered to return it as it meant that I had to uninstall XP and install Linpus back on as well as removing the extra RAM I added which is a mission itself.

No they didn't ask for POP or reciept, you must type in the serial number on their support website and they'll give you a reference number and details on how to return the thing.

P.S. I've read that updating to the latest BIOS suppose to have fix the battery issue for some people.

Thats what I read too as the v3309 is meant to fix it but my mate got one and tried his battery and is fine and tried charging mine in his and no luck!! Mine is the way I got it from the shop so may consider sending it to them, will they refund the shipping costs? :w00t:

Thanks, will fill it out and see what they say? Shall I just say the battery is no good?
#16
Yeah just say you only had the netbook for a few months with minimal use and the battery now only lasts for 30-40mins from the 2 hours when you first had it.

Done, how long do they normally take to sort it?
#18
I'm not sure as I didn't send mine away to get it fixed but I've read that it doesn't take longer than 2 weeks.

i'd have to disagree.

i'd say i usually plug it back in either when it runs out or when it has a minute or two left.

my aa1 is 7 months old now and the battery icon, from full charge, indicates it will last usually 2hrs 25mins.

it does indeed last this long, plus i don't have it at minimal brightness, plus the fan is always on seeing as it's a linux set-up and i haven't figured out how to configure the fan.

the only issue if the battery completely discharges is that start up time, the first time it's switched back on, is occasionally about 5 mins as it sort of completely reboots.

not a prob for me though.

good luck with your claim, but give it a try at totally discharging the battery next time - it's done me no harm at all
