Did it have Linux? I have heard that these don't perform too well with Windows though.

Probably some sort of hardware failure, What detail does the blue screen give you? Also the error numbers?

Try running memtest86+ on it, sounds like it could be dodgy ram.

Yes as its the asda one.

Mine runs nilted xp pro fine and it the slower SSD version. I run portable apps from a SD card so xp has the SSD to its self.

XP runs perfectly.
the blue screen error just blinks on screen, i dont have enough time to read full error number. anyway i'm not going to waste any time trying to fix it. thank anyway

BTW. it came with linux and 160gb hdd. i will just take it back tomorrow...i highly doubt the staff at asda have any idea about OS's

Yes but if they want to send it for repair acer will return it as you have modified the OS.

good point, do you think they will offer a refund after 2 months. i don't want to wait 2-3 weeks for this to get repaired.

Asda are a little hit and miss. Seems depends on who you deal with. Best bet is a swap it if they have any left.

They will give you a full refund, i have bought two faulty tv's from there, both fully refunded.

If you read the Acer apsire thread there are instructions there on how to do the bios update, we had trouble with one of our (got 2 of em) and this fixed it, but ours was a black screen not blue screen error ..anyway the bios update was easy to do & did fix it
