Acer netbook question - are they usually slow?

I bought the wife an acer aspire d150 netbook a couple of months ago and ever since she had it she's complained about how slow it is when browsing the internet, pages take a while to load, scrolling is really slow and trying to close windows it's the same

Is this normal for a netbook as i've never had one so i'm not really sure.

Obviously if it isn't i'll get onto the suppliers

Got my son an Acer Aspire One and that flies along using Windows 7

Saying that, my Daughter is claiming her lappy is really slow since loading Internet Explorer 8, don't know if it is resource hungry as haven't had time to look yet.

Just a few questions for you regarding this problem.

(1) Which operating system is running on the netbook.
(2) Which internet browser is she using.
(3) What type of network connectivity is she using i.e. wired connection, wireless, wireless PAYG internet access, etc.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Agree, Internet Explorer 8 has been a nightmare for one of the clients I work at - they've actually had to push systems over to Firefox (with add-ons) to allow them to address issues with accessing they're intranet based systems.

Have you switched off the power saving option for the wireless card via the Device Manager? I remember members having problems with connectivity (via the Asda & Tesco deal threads) and switching that off had resolved the bulk of the issues they were seeing as well.

How to troubleshoot wireless network connections in Windows XP Service Pack 2

Would also recommend using Firefox as well (as long as your not using internet banking) but that's my personal recommendation.

Also are you running with the latest set of device drivers for the wireless card in your AAO-150 Netbook and do you have any firewall software present as well.

Are sure you've not got a virus? I've got XP on mine and it runs fine.
