Play how you like, i had 1 month were i jumped from 2000 to 11000 then went back to normal gaming so do what you like

I don't even look at achievements, I just play the game.

If I get an achievement it's just a bonus.

I find it kind of sad when people purchase games like King Kong just for the 1000 point gamer score you can get. Like it actually matters?

Yup i got king kong when i was on 11000 gamerscore and started it and though what am i doing its a number, so bought gears of war and i have to say it is soooooo adddictive its like a drug or something!!

im not sure, maybe i missed something really but what is the point in them? if the more you had u could use for something or other.. i dont know
#5
Never really paid attention to them, no point I play a game for enjoyment.
#6
I think without the point system, i wouldn't play GOW anywhere near as much as i do without the opportunity of working towards achievements. But i get what you mean about the OTT attitude people have towards the gamerscore.
#7
it adds replay value to the game, makes you want to play it again

cold toast

Ditto, just to get some 14 year old yank kid thinking they are better than you? think they are pointless but dont ruin my game. i've had mine since launch but very rarely the games themselves no more.

I'm usually involved in team battles on COD3, if someone thiks im an ammeture becuase I only have 1200 gp or so then they in for a real shock :w00t:

Im on like 10.300 sumin and ive given up palying my 360 apart from an odd pes game against a mate or gutiar hero ---- where are you halo ??

Also our electricity bill was like £50 last month but ive been on my 360 like every day for like 3 hours every nite this month and now its like £120

Hmmm microsoft mind if i send you the bill

Your meter must be knackered. :o 3 hours of 360 a night would cost no-where near £70. If you never turned it off for a month it wouldn't cost anywhere near £70 either.

lol -- some estimation my mum and dad are telling me -- maybe they are trying to rob me of my non existant savings

I know the 360 costs like £40 a year to run and i know i havent been on it much

£70 is roughly 700 units, thats 700kWh of power. There are roughly 700 hours in a month. If you're electricity bill went up that much it is because you have missed meter readings and you have been underpaying in previous months, not because you've used your xbox for 3 hours a night. An Xbox360 does not consume 8kW of power. It consumes under 200W of power, so your 3 hours a night will cost roughly £1.80 per month to run, not £70 (0.2kWh * 10ppu * 3hr * 30day). Slightly less than a PS3 or typical PC. Thats assuming you switch it off at the mains between sessions mind, leave things on standby and there will be a steady draw of a couple of watts which quickly adds up.

i like the point system really but i also do find i sometimes only play for points which isnt right really and for that reason they are bad.
and i am going to admit i bought king kong for the points!! it was a very average game and i havent touched it since i completed it.
#14
Don't buy games just to get the points, but it is nice to see an acheivement pop up every now and again...

Gears of War seems to be the most played towards acheivements (kids looking at your profile to see which you have and then compare with the old 'I have more then you, ner ner' and such like).

Must admit though, Gears has to be the only game I have ever managed to keep going back to, even after 8 months of owning it.

i love it, its just a bit of fun, i dont ageree with peopel just playing games for the points but its a nice way of tracking what you have done  good fun i say

Lol, there was a poll on Xbox-scene and to be honest I absolutely hate achievements. I have abour 14,000 gamerpoints and now feel v.bored playing on my 360 - mabye its just the games i have? lol.

Btw, I also had King Kong (couldnt be asked playing it tho) - but happy to say I rented it lol.

they should change the achievement scheme into the more achievements you unlock in the game the more things you can download from the marketplace instead of buying them Points Cards to buy stuff....that would be better, IMO
