Hey, when i add heat to a deal it goes up by 9 degrees. Is this normal? As it only used to go up by 1.

Think it also considers the heat of deals you have posted yourself and possibly other things.

Your walkers deal was hot, and the paintball one scorching, so your voting power is now high. Well done, keep posting good deals :)

marshallka - rep might feature a little but it is considered 'just a fun thing'. Its pretty daft really, some really long term members have neutral rep still (unfair when new members start with a positive block) and one member got 10 rep blocks of their one and only post! I think the cap on voting power is 9 points at the moment...

Yep, jah has explained it well there ^^ And I think 9 is the max your vote power can be.

jah .......and one member got 10 rep blocks of their one and only post!

How do you know that?

Lol :-D bigcalv is your man, a one post wonder it seems - doubt he even knows it as it as he doesn't seem to have been online since he posted the deal!

Here's his legendary post:

The rep system was changes a few months ago I think so that each rep is worth a lot less than it used to be, which is good, but it means some members have really high rep like above, newer members will probably never get as much even if they post hundreds of great deals, and some really long term members who don't post often are still on neutral (or even negative) rep, so its not really anything to take seriously.

I doubt its possible (I don't know if a complete list of all the rep thats been given is stored on the database or not) but it would be really interesting to see what would happen if the rep system was recalculated so that each rep post was worth the same (or perhaps 1 point for a new member and 2 points for an established one), and rep from the misc forum was excluded (it would be a much fairer and more accurate reflexion I reckon)....

Mine seems to vary a lot. I think on the old site my vote was worth about 12 degrees, then on the new layout i think i had something like 18 degrees and now its 9 degrees. weird.

I received a hotter response to my deal but my voting is only 5. Hmmm.

Are you sure andreah? You seem to have voted lots of hot deals so I'm surprised if its not at the maximum. It is possible someone else voted at the same time as you. I wouldn't be too bothered about it anyway, keep posting the good deals, it is appreciated :)

It's an average of all the deals you post. So if you post cold or mediocre deals, it dilutes it overall. For example, you have one on -10, another on -21.... etc
