i thought they where only legal to the person with the original, dont think they can be passed on with the puchase of the original game but not sure

for mp3s i know that you can download them, but its illegal to play them. well I think :|

Well look at it this way, selling pirated games is illegal, so why would they somehow become legal when sold as part of a deal?

but what would happen if i bought an modded xbox with COD2 COD3 COD4 i have all these games as originals so would that then be against the law?

as i understand copies are for YOURSELF for back up so if you receive them thats not yourself they were made for

thats why i posted this to find out all i can as my dad is a PC and he dont know for sure

i dont really understand why you would make copies for an xbox 360 if it wasnt to play the game illegally? whats the benefit? you have to mod your xbox for 1 whichh means no online play :S

maybe if the law was clearer they wanted have as many people doing it...

I don't see any harm if they give you the games for free and just charge for the the moded xbox.

I was under the impression that backing up games is legal, though circumventing copy protection to do so is not. Obviously varies from country to country.

I don't think selling these as part of a general bundle is acceptable on the forum.

Worlds a joke

Did you know it is illegal to buy a song of itunes or even from a cd and put it on an ipod or mp3

You have to contavt every music company to allow you to put them on

Madness

I hate pirated films

I hope in the future they will release dvds alongside the cinema

As its £8.50 per adult down here in greater london and frankly its a joke so i rarely go to the cinema

I haven't modded my 360 and have scratched 2 copies of battlefield and 1 copy of Halo 3 so they give me disc errors. When my brothers use my 360 they place the discs on the floor instead of back in the boxes, keep telling them not too but they do it anyway.

So there is a legit reason for having backups. But I bet about 2% of people using "backups" actually own the game.

But who is seriously going to enforce that?
Imagine the police were told to check anybody who had an mp3 player to see if they're playing converted tracks, they would just laugh.

Back in Manchester the general guideline behind selling anything dodgy is-
do it in large quantaties, expect to get busted
do it in small quantaties, become one of a million doing it

this seems to be why people rarely get busted for recording of the tv, downloading torrents, copying to mp3 players, downloading ROMs etc. Some of the film torrents I see have 30000+ downloads within days of being up; no agency can be funded to a point where they can chase and prosecte all of these people- they rely on the 'woman has to pay £200000 fine for illegally downloading music' headlines to scare people (but in reality more to be seen to be doing something about it)

As for selling them, modded consoles fetch more than unmodded, so dont say anything about the copied media and chuck it in the package as a bonus- doubt the buyer will report you, theyl most likely be chuffed with something they didnt expect! hell, 100 dvd roms blank costs less than £20 now anyway- youre not really losing out. Obviously if this is against forum rules then don't do it.
