Advent 4211 - anyone got one?

I am thinking of buying an Advent 4211, but cannot make my mind up to go for one or not. I have read some good and bad reviews on it. If you have one, has there been any problems with it? Read More

Advent are a PC World / Currys only brand and are best avoided

the 4211 is an MSI Wind clone, so may not be as unreliable as other advent stuff

A friend has one (it is a msi wind clone). He loves it so much his Mrs is buying one for college. He runs VS2008 on his (albeit slowly) with 2gb of RAM. He is suffering from the non start static issue, but doesnt seem to bother him (he just removes the battery and replaces it). 2hr battery life is the only downside, but a 6cell battery is due soon so that may help. Dont know any more as I havent spoken to him much about it.

I bought one last week and think it's superb!

Pros:-

The screen is clear and bright, and using it for long periods of time doesn't pose a problem.

The keyboard is a good size and takes only a small amount of adjusting to from a full-sized keyboard.

Th overall speed of the system was quite a shock at first, using stock hardware and it's still very nippy.

Had no problems with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and built-in webcam (all very good quality).

I have plugged it into the TV to watch films, and it does so flawlessly. (32in LCD TV via VGA. The resolution of the screen is 1360x768, and 1024x768 is the best resolution I could get using the netbook. Looks great)

Cons:-

The speakers could be better, slightly tinny sounding.

The battery life averages out at around 2 hours - I'm looking at upgrading the battery to 6-cell ASAP.

Hope that helps a little bit! Ask me if you need to know anything else!

Did you manage to get hold of the battery yet and did it fit well?

Haven't actually received mine yet, as delivery was delayed by two weeks. But this looks promising:
