I bought 3 x paul Smith T's and a Lyle and Scott Polo from a Website (it's legit I been to the shop in sunderland) last week. I had them delivered at the weekend (RM special) my card is yet to be debited of the £100 odd quid, do I keep quiet or ring them up and ask them whats happening, I like the company in question and don't really wanna steal from them whcih it is (even if a clerical error). How long can it take for soemthing to be deducted from Visa debit (my bank says no payments pending). What would you do?

they could be debited at the end of month/week. some online companies do it that way.
#2
You will probably be charged later.
#3
Boycoutt them next time :whistling:
#4
what send the items 1st then charge you? I've never had that before, I don't mind like the moneys there waiting to be debited.

Why ask us for advice on whether to be a thief or not? It's up to you. Do you just want everyone to say 'yeah, keep quiet, say nowt!' so you feel that you're doing the right thing?

Wait a bit to see if it gets taken, then decide.

It's your conscience.

Heellllllllloooooooooooooo. No, don't ring them. Just wait and see what happens!

I also asked how long it could take for a card to be debited, so don't pick and choose what you want to read.

they will have made a claim for the money from your account, but won't actually charge it till they do them in a bunch..... tesco do this ...... they wait 5 days ish to pay (they do the cards in one go)

the money will be put aside

at a cashpoint it will say available : XXXX

withdrawable : XXXX

the 2 amounts will be different ;)

Personally I would phone them and let them know. I'm guessing they aren't a large company. If it is an error they might give you a discount on a future purchase for your honesty.

Like I said, just wait a bit to see and then it's up to you to decide what you do. If you weren't thinking about trying to avoid paying you could have just called them and asked when it would be taken, right?

My mum  bought me a PS3 game from Game last Friday on the internet, it was delivered yesterday, she's still not been debited on her account and it was a solo account so should be debited straight away, but, this has happened before and it's debited unexpectedly later, so hold the money back if it makes you go overdrawn. It can be up to anywhere like 3 months later :?

I could but alas they are closed. As I said I like the comapny in question and they have always been good with delivery and service in the past. I will be phoning them in the morning to ask. I only asked for advice as many other people do on a forum.

Nice one  I'm sorry if I misconstrued what you were asking, tbh it sound like you were looking for support in being shady (which obviously you DID get from some quarters, as to be expected).
Like someone else said, they will probably be very grateful if they have made an error and you will have a lovely warm glow inside, knowing you did the right thing.
I once stood in a small hardware store for twenty minutes arguing that I had given him 2 brand new £20 notes stuck together instead of one. He swore I hadn't but in the end he gave me £20 back anyway. Upon getting home I found the missing note under my car seat. I could never have lived with myself had I not taken it back and apologised. I felt so much better knowing that at least one other person now KNEW that I was honest and trustworthy!

Of course sunderland being bigger in population and geographically than newcastle makes that sound daft :-D

Aphrodite is a good shop though

I've had stuff been debited around 4 weeks after i bought something. I even filled up with petrol at a BP once which cost £70.............forgot all about it when they took it from my account 17 weeks later and thought WTF....someone is stealing money. lol

However, the bank said there is really no limit on how long after they can take it.

don't get complacent. I have the same thing happen to me all the time. they take the money eventually so don't spend it! they get an authorisation code meaning that they can go in and take the money whenevr they feel like it. 6 months later if they want too!! even if you don't have any money in the bank. it will leave you overdrawn if you don't have enough money, but sorry to say you won't be getting any freebies.
