Good Afternoon fellow HUKDers, Can any of you help me with my predicament?
I have recently mounted my Big Fiddy (50" Plasma) on the chimney breast and had the old fireplace plastered out and shelved to house my sky+HD, PS3 and Revo but now I need to find a surround sound system that doesnt have a dvd player built into it as I use the PS3 for disc playback, must be 5.1 and on the small side (no whacking gret amps) and for around the £150 mark

come on I know someone will be able to do it!

thanks

Scotty

But he doesn't want a dvd player.
OP, I think it's most likely gonna have to be separates, ie, an AV receiver and a speaker package which is gonna be a struggle at your price point. Try Richer Sounds.

Try these, £200 in total.

Deek thats kind of the thing that I'm looking for only I could do with the av rec being smaller in size, basically like a surround sound unit but without the dvd as you correctly stated to dontasciime, brilliant price for the speakers tho

These AV receivers are pretyy much much of a muchness (:D), size wise. Have a mooch around the others but the one I linked was cheapest so it's probs gonna be more even if you find one smaller (btw, all the dimensions are at the bottom of the spec tab in case you missed it).

Yeah I know which is why i said it also come s with an upscaling dvd player. (the important bit being the amp decoder if it works that way) he can then throw out the dvd player or whatever) but in this instance the optical in is on the DVD player so you would need to keep it if you went this route which hardly seeks likely but for anyone else £99 for ps3 5.1 sound

He obviously wanted speakers though and it needs to have an optical in therefore the important bit were the speakers (as long as it is the control pod for those speakers that had the optical in) and for £150 or below otherwise I would have easily told him to get a seperate amp with some speakers :lol

local ebay search worked for me

got a practically new £150 TEAC receiver for £30 AND A SONY sub for £20

older stuff (which does the job perfectly) go for peanuts
