Greetings all. My girlfriend has been accepted onto a graduation scheme to teach English to kids at a primary school in Hong Kong. It is for 9 months and she is really nervous about it, to the point where she is considering rejecting the offer.
What I am looking for is any information you guys can give on what it is like to live, visit or work in HK. Some example questions below:
How many people speak English over there - either fluently or well enough to communicate, at least?
What are the prices like there? For clothes, food, other general living expenses? We would like to work out how much she will be able to save while she is working there, to try and recoup the cost of her flights, etc.
Living there - what is your average student accomodation like? Any ideas on pricing?
For those who have lived there before, what is it like adjusting to the culture?
Does anyone know the cheapest way to fly there (preferably from the North of England)?
Any and all information will be greatly appreciated, and rep left.
