What should I ask the teacher?

What shouldn't I ask about?

Serious and funny comments please and stories from your experiences.

Ask how they think child will do next year moving classes, anything you can do to prepare child, anything you should be working on with the child over the summer holidays

The teacher should really tell you all you need to know though, they are used to doing these and know what to tell you.

Have fun, parents evenings only get worse as they get older! At this age there is not much they can tell you that will be really bad

You need to focus on Social and Emotional development to see a childs happiness. When these are in place the child is more comfortable with learning to their ability.

So I usually ask if my child has appeared happy in class and whether he mixes well with the other children as well as playing on his own at times. Obviously we have chats at home - but I am thinking parents evening here.

I have found at our school, that the teachers don't really say alot, but they do like to focus on the positives.

If there were any concerns you should have already been approached, so I imagine your parents evening will be an opportunity to say what a lovely child you have and show you some expamples of their work.

at 5, all you need to know really is if they are happy and settled within the class

It will be fine hon... the teacher should make loads of positive comments about your child, go in with an open mind and check out the walls for evidence of your child's work displayed there as well as being able to see what is in her books.

As kelly_o_fanatic says, ask what you can be working on with your little one over the summer hols, teacher may want you to read frequently to your child so it helps get them used to books and to encourage any mark-making your child likes to do.

Just go along and see how it goes... I'm sure you'll come away happy x x
