You can return it if it's broken :whistling:

You know it has that intermittent fault where sometimes it just crashes and you need to remove the batteries and re insert them to get it working again
#2
Does it state on the box or catalogue how many megapixels it is?
#3
why is it excluded was it on clearence
#4
I've returned camera's before i just say it's faulty and if it's within 16 days, they just give you your cash back. I'm a photographer but sometimes the info in the catalougue doesn't actually match what you're buying
#5
its 8.2 megapixels .... no it has a cross next to it and that means its excluded
#6
Camera details?

Argos are really good at taking back goods as long as you have a receipt and it looks like new. If you take it back to them and say the picture quality is poor and does not do what it says on the box they will more often than not give a full refund.
#9
Number of megapixels means jack if the lens is below par, ive seen 3 megapixel cameras that take better quality images than a low end 10 megapixel jobbo
#10
no you cant return because you dont like it. you can lie and say it's broken though but they should test it and prove you wrong if they're doing their job properly.
#11
You arent having much luck with recent purchases are you? Have you heard back about the phone yet?

As for this case an intermittent fault does seem to be causing problems as previously suggested :whistling:
#12
whats the best think to say then????????????
#13
They are excluded because of the memory in them so they can't resell them, just say it is faulty make up some lame excuse they will not even question you..
#14
the guy offered me £10 via cheque as a good will gesture , i took it cant be arsed with messing around , but now i have to work out how to replace the cover ..... for a girl too complicated
#15
I have taken things back to Argos before and just explained it was a duplicate gift and smiled sweetly, they refunded
#16
If it's excluded, I guess you can try taking it back in and saying the picture quality isn't what you'd expect, but to stop the staff arguing I'd imagine you'd need to take a camera with the same pixels and actually show there is a noticable difference in quality.

In my experience, they'll argue that black is white in my store to try and avoid giving money back or replacing items, but it could just be my local store if full of jobsworths that take pleasure in being miserable

Thats the trouble with intermittent faults though they come and go sometimes dont appear for ages and then.......

If its taking poor quality images then surely its "not fit for purpose" ie taking decent quality pics, most argos staff couldnt give a damn and just refund, they dont get paid enough to give a toss about the company they work for

Just tell them you turn the camera on, it works fine but then every so often the screen just goes black and you can't do anything with it.

The only way you can fix it is to remove the batteries, leave them out for a minute and then put them back in.

Say in time you have had it it has already done it 3 or 4 times, make sure you say it does it randomly (i.e. you don't have to be doing anything in particular for it to happen) and that you don't want an exchange as you've been very disappointed with the one you have..

Just be aware that if they refuse to refund you and say they can only send it off for repair, in the small print on the form you sign, it does say if no problems can be found with it then you're liable for the full cost of it being sent off and looked over by the manufacturer..... This was found out by my mate who had a genuine fault, was sent off to Samsung as was under a year old, Samsung said it was fine and sent it back, even though it still only takes 3 pictures on a new set of camera batteries :w00t:

Did you pay by cash? You could try returning it as an unwanted present?
I have worked at Argos in the past and they are pretty good with returns as long as you have the receipt.
#23
you need to be 100% sure what you are going to say when you go in there. you cant change the story. The intermittent fault is not a bad idea, but they can usually make you sit there for a while when testing etc.

If the camera has a protruding lens, try holding the lens out while zooming it. This will strain the motor and break it. Nothing you can do about it lol!!

Sale of goods act could come in here, you are only legally eligible for a refund if the product is faulty when it leaves the store. They can offer a repair if it worked then broke!

Good luck, need any more advice, PM me.

tbh, you shouldn;t expect too much for a £50 camera. The 8.2mp rating isnt a sign of quality. Its the lens that counts and cheap cameras just wont have one.

WTF?? You bought a £50 camera to replace the s5700? I love mine to bits, really good quality shots, lower on the Megapixel front than the kodak but superior lens and excellent optical zoom and macro too on it!
