Ok, I'm not allowed to request a specific card but I think I'm ok to ask for advice.

Crossbow and the like who know their stuff :-)

http://www.scan.co.uk/product.aspx?ProductId=28393

or

http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductID=911299

The 1gb one says 256mb but 1gb DDR2. Is that less than the 512mb DDR2?

Thanks a lot.

as with ram .... the higher memory is normally better but it can also depend on the memory speed and the graphics card series

looking at them i would be inclined to go for the first as it has more memory .... same clock speed as the other .... same # of cores

someone will say if im right though

yes, faster memory, clock speeds etc ...... ddr3 is the new king of graphics and ram

What does "with one X16 lane graphics slot available" mean?

It's not bad for about £37, though delivery on top of course.

Well GDDR5 is what the top graphics card use but GDDR3 is the minimum where you should be looking now.

x16 lane means a pci-e 16x lane on your motherboard (which all recent ones will have)

have a look on scan for a similar card for free delivery

It uses PCI-e x16 slot.

Hmm, would my mobo say on it whether it'd be a PCI-E x8 or x16?

Ho hum. Amusing how I don't remember the spec despite building this PC myself!

Ok, running an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ on AM2. 2gb DDR2 PC2-6400. Mobo is M2N-MX SE.

Yup, is PCI-e 16x it seems! Yay!

well that gc seems ideal for ya needs then,

Will probably have a 2600XT 256mb DDR4 for sale soon. Just waiting for the 4750 to be released.

It looks pretty awesome. Now for the final piece of advice, would you advise buying it or do you envision a price crash very soon?!

Thanks a lot guys, you've been awesome.
