My ex is currently with TalkTalk and has run up a bill and hence had her broadband and telephone service cancelled. She now has to pay the bill and pay a reconnection fee of £69.95 to get reinstalled.
I spoke with a TalkTalk Customer Services Rep who told me she could either pay the bill or £70 'buy out' (whichever is the smaller amount) to terminate her current contract and then a reinstallation fee of £69.95 as she has now lost her current phone number due to being in arrears for over 3 months.
I tried to help out by phoning TalkTalk to pay this fee, only to be told that this info was incorrect. She has to pay the bill (in full) to settle the account and then pay a fee of £69.95 for a new reinstallation and new number. They told me that the £70 plus £69.95 was incorrect.
Is there an alternative provider which can connect a broadband service and telephone service relatively inexpensively? It seems that she will need to have a BT line installed first (new build property and no previous BT connection). Is there a way around having to have a BT line installed at over £100?
She is currently with SKY TV package only. Would they also need to charge for a BT line first of all? Or is there a better internet and phone package provider out there that you guys would recommend?
