Advice Needed Please: City Break with Kids in Amsterdam, Berlin or Prague?

Hi there,
Facing a bit of a dilemna as we would like to take our first trip overseas with our 4 and 18 month old children.
Hubby would like to go to Prague and has also wanted to visit some of the camps etc in Germany to pay respects to family lost in WWII for a long time, although I am unsure what would be best with 2 young children.
Any hints, tips, others experiences, hotels to stay in, places to take the kids and areas to avoid would be welcomed.
We will be travelling in late August 2009 and staying for around 5 nights.
Thanks so much in advance for any support.
:)

Any of them are brilliant for a family during the day - would avoid the dam and prague at night though

Was there any reason for Amsterdam or did you just throw it in there? if you are going to holland i wouldnt think Amsterdam central would be ideal with children for obvious reasons.

They have a Great place for children in Holland, its out of the way of all the Red lights Etc...Here is the link http://www.duinrell.com/

i would say none of them are ideal family destinations, although there are family activities as in any city in the world...... kids want fun parks, beaches not city centres especially not concrete ones like suggested.,

You clearly have no idea about Prague.

It is a wonderful city full of spires and towers. It also has the largest inhabited castle in the world.
Wenceslas square at night is a glorious place with all the buildings lit up. You would not be there late with young children.
The zoo has a fantastic history through a great flood and the toboggan run is one of the best i have been on in Europe.
The public transport of buses and trams is one of the best in the world and any child would love it.
Local supermarkets (ALBERT) are sign posted everywhere.
It is very cheap and the locals will do anything possible to help you.

If you go looking for stag parties etc etc, you can find them. As a family, we have never witnessed any during our visits.

Otherwise, this is a perfect location for a family trip with children.
