advice needed please? My uncle's credit card was billed for norton renewal that he did not ask for ? I advised him to call his credit card company and say he did not authorise it. Can they just bill you and assume you are renewing without asking first?

Depends, if he used the credit card to purchase the software and license last year or something then there would probably have been a small print clause stating that unless you contact them before the year license is up then it will automatically be renewed and taken from the credit card. Check this in detail first.

If you find that the above isnt the case and there is no explanation for the charge then contact Norton and explain to them that unless they refund the money you will contact your credit card provider and get the transaction reversed. Norton should have written evidence to support the charge otherwise they have to refund it as it was unauthorised.

They have probably signed it up as a recurring bill. I've had similar to this scenario - and the CC company wasn't interested in refunding. Gotta ask them though. You may get lucky!
