ok you need to do this .... ring up sky and tell them that you have given your old box to your mum and you need to sync it up to her card they will ask for the serial number etc and then it will work for her , she will however need a sky plus subscription to use the rec services etc also you will need a twin cable to rec and watch another program at the same time if she only has a single cable she will only be able to record and watch at the same time or rec while not in

The Sky+ box needs two line feeds from the dish, so if your Mum only has a single LNB she will need to get a new LNB & also some cabling.

Why not ask the engineer when he comes round? Generally they will do extra work if you ask them nicely enough (& offer renumeration:thumbsup:).

not strictly true as stated in my post but it does have restrictions only having a single feed

hi i know this has nothing to do with your question but ill put it on here anyway.
i phoned sky to down grade our package from £47 p/m to £28 they asked if we had cable which we do up stairs, then they said if you want to keep the package for 3 months we can have it for £30 then to phone up after 3 months and they may do it again.

I installed Sky+ myself recently into a room that only had normal Sky so I may be a able to help.

Yes you can use your Sky+ box in your mothers house but it will require registering the card to the box.

Sky+ doesn't require a subscription (free to subscribers) as long as your Mother has a normal Sky sub.

Full Sky+ needs two satellite feeds so you should buy a Satellite Install kit to run a second feed as it has all the bits or buy a shotgun cable to replace the existing cable with a doubler.
