I want to apply for a job at a school I used to go to for a placement year for my degree, I have just rang up the school to ask for the email address of the IT manger.

What should I email him

Should I send him my CV and covering letter? or should I just ask him if they have any placements there and I used to go to school there etc etc, what course im studying?

how should I approach this?

Just a causal E-mail asking my interest, or send my CV and the full wack

thanks.

If the IT manager knows/remembers you why not phone him/her and express your interest that way.

If not, I would send the letter and CV, by email, and follow it up in one week if you don't hear from them.

Goodluck.

Introduce yourself, Say you are looking for a job with that school, tell them about your self what you've been studying and attach your CV. Ask a teacher at the school who was at school when you were there for a reference

mate, i advised someone in a similar position to just drop them an email to see if theres any vacancies coming up... they remembered the girl and how good she was and offered her a job on the phone 20 mins later.. go for it.

Send an email to him, casual but with a point, explain yourself fully and mention that you were previously on placement there, explain that if required a copy of a CV and covering letter could be sent over.

I would def send the CV with a cover letter as it will look informal if you just drop him an e-mail with out any form of previous contact

a mixture of all 3, extend the covering letter yo include the ifo you mentioned and it will help keep it from being too formal. good luck

Just send the email and say "don't you know who I am" and post a link to this forum.

I'm sure he would be impressed. (Seriously.)

Are you applying for an actual job? It may be worth volunteering at first, this will help to "get your foot in the door". In my experience schools love volunteers and once you've shown your skills, you may well be asked to work for them afterwards. I'd ring them, as well as, sending an email
explaining what you're doing etc. I'm sure they'll find something for you, if not with them, they may refer you to another school.

Also check out your local council website, they advertise school jobs:thumbsup: Good Luck:)
