For browsing, a few word docs and email, you don't need a high spec. machine. I'd be looking for an Acer Revo or similar rather than a full size desktop base unit.

totally agree

just get a second hand one for £50 and it will easily do the job

thanks for the advise on second hand, but they want a new machine with a warranty.

fair enough but in all my time, I have never had a PC fail on me because of hardware.

software isn't covered by warranty which is the cause of 99% of PC problems I reckon

just get the cheapest PC you can find as it will more than suit their needs.

e.g.

get a nettop, Acer revo or the likes.
Would be MORE than adequate for their needs.

Im looking at downgrading to a similar setup an i do a hell of a lot more than just WP and internet.

thanks all, you are right of course.... they don;t need anything too fancy.
the zoostorm at ebuyer looks pretty good.

It's a good price for the Medion if you also need to buy a monitor but this review is not too good.

In particular I was not impressed by the remark
so thin that there's only width at the back only for a tiny 60mm fan that whines like a wounded 747 engine when you attempt anything more strenuous than reading a web page.

:-) fair enough, I'll leave that one alone!
