Trying to convert some video direct from DVD for my HTC Hero.

I normally use AnyDVD to get past the protection & Handbrake to convert for this but for some reason none of the Video I convert will work in the Hero (seems to be a Handbrake/Hero issue).

I've tried using Daniusoft Media Converter Pro & AnyVideo Converter which work fine except that they only seem to decode about 24 mins of a 29 min episode.

The problem is that there appears to be a lot more "VOB"'s available when choosing a file to convert in Media converter / Anyvideo than when using Handbrake (which just offers me the episodes available (its Blackadder I'm converting).

How do I get the other conversion programmes to see "episodes" rather than what I assume are parts of episodes.

Cheers for any advice.

Rip the dvd to your hard drive using Anydvd first and make sure it plays ok.

So long as the decrypter is up to date that should be ok, if not you will have to send the ifo files to Slysoft and they will work on a solution. So long as your copy plays ok from the hd, try using Format Factory to convert to the required file format . It's free http://www.pcfreetime.com/

I'll give the ripping 1st option a try though was hoping to do it straight from DVD for speed .

Know what you mean but you need to be sure the dvd is copying ok first. The extra VOB's may be protection that needs to be removed. If it's ok, then using Format Factory, select the Advanced tab on the left side and then select Video Joiner. Pointing this to the folder from Anydvd containing all the files should then select all that is required and covert them into a single file for your Hero.

Cheers guys

Updated anydvd & when ripping it still seemed to chop the end off the episodes.

Discovered that if I changed the width / height of the conversion in Handbrake it will work in the Hero - more fiddling to follow but seem to be getting somewhere.
